Good people join the cops, but copdom itself attracts and protects bad people. Cops who don't compromise their morals sooner or later don't get very far.

Searches him without a warrant or consent, finds a couple stems from a gram he bought earlier, cuffs him and takes him to the station, where this dude we all went to high school with made him strip naked at the threat of violence and sprayed him with a hose in this shower room and my friend said he was laughing the whole time. He got a year of probation.
Yeah in my experience cops are either Good PeopleTM trying to unironically 'protect and serve' or power hungry dickheads who need to an excuse to be shitty to other people.
Even the good cops I've encountered seem to be mildly aspie. They could give a shit about trying to be social, and instead just regurgitate laws and shit.
If you really think about it, law enforcement is a genuinely a shitty job, and only someone who's slightly mental could actually endure more than a few months. Mental usually also mean sadistic or sociopathic (like you mentioned).
