Fallout76 has to be one of the biggest shitshows in gaming history.

Yeah, I can't think of anything that's been so disappointing to its fans since Daikatana.

I don’t think this game was disappointing as people kind of expected it to be a shitshow.

No Man’s Sky (at launch) is something I would classify more as disappointing.

To be fair to No Man's Sky, the devs eventually made it halfway decent. It seems like FO76 is just getting worse by the day.

Yeah, but such a huge part of the audience was kids who hadn't ever been horribly disappointed by a sequel yet or... just... retards who didn't see the writing on the wall. It was so obviously a horribly idea from when it was announced, but only us high-brow connoisseurs recognized that. 😎

Anthem

I have a friend who desperately wanted to play the next fallout after fallout 4 and when I told him fo76 came out ages ago but it's not on Steam he was ecstatic and was gonna buy it the next instant, luckily I told him it's an online game and he backed out. I somehow now understand why people still play that disaster of a game

I honestly don't. Just go back and play the classic ones or something. They have the same quantities of bugs so he'll feel right at home. Nobody, not even Bethesda, wants people to play FO76.

New vegas is still great, played it again last year. Tons of mods too if you wanna go nuts

Get outer worlds of you wanna play fallout so bad. It has a similar feel and a few bugs but it's better than f76 by miles

I like Outer Worlds more than any fallout I've played because of the speech skill actually being useful for once.

Todd just wants to make sure nobody ever asks him to make a game that isn’t Skyrim again.

It's definitely up there.

Its the gift that keeps on giving for us anyways

Fallout76 is nothing more than Bethesda trying to copy what Rockstar did with GTA online and RDR online.

Bethesda wanted a piece of that live service online genre with Fallout but they failed miserably.

I got this game for free and I did not enjoy it

There are no good Bethesda-made Fallout games.

Bethesda only exists because of mod support.

All it takes is for a studio to competently make an Open World, first person, fantasy RPG, and Bethesda will crumble.

Vanilla Skyrim is a shit game.

Mod friendly Witcher?

What people miss about Bethesda games is that they are genuinely more 'interactive' than most others. Just in the way that you can basically pick up anything, open any door that isn't clearly boarded off, and there are all sorts of little interactables all over the map from the sawmills to butterfly hunting and mining ore.

None of these things are particularly fun. But the fact that they're there really fills the games out. It's basically the only thing they really have going for them. Witcher is a better written, better looking, more mature, and more competent game on every imaginable level but it feels a lot less 'personal' when you're playing it.

Just IMO, that's the winning formula. Their games are actually very immersive when they aren't crashing, charging you money, sucking and lagging.

Sure but their design philosophy seems keen on dumbinh everything down.

So while the formula worked with Morrowind and Oblivion.... the lazy fucking approach to writing in Skyrim resulted in a game that, compared to it's predecessors, has not a single memorable quest or moment in the entire fucking game.

You can play for 100 hours, think back on it, and realize that nothing stands out.

See I do really like the interactive features and general immersion in their games, but there is basically nothing else worth note that I could say about them. The writing is bad, combat and gameplay is always bad, graphics are bad, stability is bad, depth doesn't exist, and there are literally mods for Fallout: New Vegas that I think are more enjoyable and interesting than the entirety of their backlog.

But if somebody wanted to step up and compete with them, I think they'd definitely need to add modding support and a ton of interactive environmental features.

Ok boomer.

There’s tons of memorable missions.

  • first time you fight the dragon

  • learning how to do the shouts with the monks

  • that boring mission in the netherworld

  • killing the main dragon

  • eating flesh mission

  • joining the black hand mission

  • killing dracula mission

  • the white elves origin mission

I can go on and on

It's kind of crazy how far some people will go to make mods too as well. Like it's one thing to slap together some assets together and make an armor set, but how many man hours have gone into things like SKSE, FNIS, or ENB?

There are once you reach a level of modding where at least 51% of the game is now made by the community then you can say its a good game :P

Yeah I've had a good time playing some of Fallout 4. Tends to go off the rails whenever anybody starts talking.

Example

3 was great and almost no one said otherwise back in the day.

3 is barely a finished game. It's a glorified tech demo with an amateur film-school project level plot slapped on. It's laughably bad. New Vegas clearly took the groundwork that was laid there and made it into a real game.

Fact of the matter is that Fallout 3 is a badly written and extremely shallow game. Beyond the two major quest hubs there is almost nothing to do all over the map, which is itself a badly pasted together series of repeating building debris and metro tunnels. So badly pasted together that it's easy to literally get lost and not remember which direction you came from because everything looks exactly the same.

Add to that the fact that it's unbalanced to hell and back, varying from spongey enemies that take 15 head shots to kill, to virtually no challenge at all. And the whole thing is tinted with a disgusting shade of snot-green.

Bad game. Bad.

your rambling paragraphs, which i'm not going to read, change nothing about the fact 3 was universally praised back when it came out and nothing really around was like it, besides other bethesda games like oblivion.

you're in the minority and i don't care.

I mean alright if you don't want to argue about it but it wasn't 'universally praised' at the time, that's just wrong. Particularly among long-standing Fallout fans, who have a time honored tradition of shitting on every new game in the series, it was criticized for being dumb as fuck.

lmao i hate to break it to you but literally no one cares about the handfuls of boomers who post on fallout subs, most people loved it, it sold great and got great reviews.

Game reviews almost always skew extremely high compared to any other medium, and it did sell well. But there was frequent bitching about the game all over the internet when it was released. To say it was universally praised is just dumb, on one hand because almost nothing really ever is. And this isn't any kind of exception.

i'm saying you're a minority for thinking it's shit, which is absolutely true.

reviews from gamers on average put it at about 8-9/10.

Can you name a AAA game that isn't? Gamer reviews are the most worthless metric of quality that I could think of. A 'bad score' in gaming translates to a 7, so that really isn't saying anything at all.

so let me ask you simply, because you're moving goal posts with every reply, do you think you are in a majority or a minority for thinking this game is trash?

I don't think a majority think it's trash. I'm saying that A) It objectively is a shittly pasted together game and B) It got far from universal acclaim when it came out.

lol yes, you're the only person with good taste, and all reviews are always wrong, said every salty person with an unpopular opinion.

I'm not going to apologize for the fact that I have good taste and most gamers don't. That's just an observable fact. And lol 'game of the year'. There are like 80 of those awards and they mean nothing.

Sorry, stranger. It's OK for you to like Fallout 3 or any other bad game, but don't pretend you aren't basically playing an Oblivion mod.

ok boomer.

New vegas is probably better but the setting is so much better in fallout 3. Actually feels like a apocalyptic wasteland and not some gay cartoon cowboy thing

The Mojave feels like a place that people actually live in. An easy to show this is to go to various locations in New Vegas and in Fallout 3 and try to figure out what the inhabitants eat.

Fallout 4 is really fun it's just a shitty rpg. Obviously the Fo games are known as rpg games so I don't blame people when it's just Skyrim with better gameplay.

I can take a 9-inch dildo up my butt, because I'm an adult and I solve my own problems

He deserves what he gets for playing that abortion

This but unironically

Pay pigs squealing is sooooo hot....

I played this game for like a month when it came out and never spent a dine on it. I got everything I could out of it during that time. God I regret that so much

A new game, a new start... right?
