there weren't many ww1 vets to begin with, and ww2 happening 20 years later with 10x as many people serving. its pretty much always overshadowed.
the fact that US troops only fought during the last 12 months when there were the fewest amount of casualties doesn't help either.
plus poppies aren't as well known in the US.
