You didn't even read it, did you? You just disregarded it because it doesn't fit your world view. You are pathetic, scum of the earth. People present you with scientifically backed evidence showing how the world really is and you disregard it because it is brought to your attention by a group of people you find inferior to you.

New Belgium sucked since I could drink.

If you have never enjoyed a Fat Tire amber ale, then your opinion doesn't count here.

It’s....Okay.

Hey you fucking edited that you sneak. I do not like Yuengling.

My bad, I had hit enter too fast. In a modest attempt to make up for it, I will admit that I don't think that the bottled fat tire that people can get today or even in the last 10 years is as good as the original that was being brewed in the early days. They swear it was the same formula and procedure, but something changed. Still good, but as good as the original.

Now that I can believe. The bottling+shipping across state or regionally has killed a ton of breweries.

bottling+shipping across state or regionally

In recent years, New Belgium opened up an across country location in my neck of the woods for $175,000,000, after all these years, and their might be some dramatic backstory to this.

There were questions then, and questions now as to, even as big as New Belgium had become, they could afford that.

Wtf, there is no way New Belgium was ever big enough to swallow that cost.

Yes and no. As I've said, they've grown to be the 4 largest "craft" brewery in the US, and I consider them 2nd since sam adams and yeungling should count, but by sheer volume of beer sale and production, yeah.

The number has and had raised some eyebrows, though.

Huh. So I guess this is the dream, ballon it up and sell it to shitty beer megacorps? Makes sense.

Also, from their letter:

eclectic Belgian beers

Those words do not belong together and they need to wash their whore mouths.

So I guess this is the dream, ballon it up and sell it to shitty beer megacorps? Makes sense.

see, here is where the drama lies, is that while there were some hints of that, most people didn't believe think it was possible. Especially the not with some of the the employee owners. Not in the case of this specific company.

Definitely in lots of other capitalistic eenterprises, but not New Belgium.

I agree, and maybe among other things, they are just trying to cover their ass before it bites them for not handling the gose issue

If you say so about them being overly idealistic, seems to me like they just saw the opportunity and said fuck it. I’ll read follow up posts tho if something comes of it.

Okay, what is the gose issue? You mean that they didn’t hop on that trend?

gose issue?

I can't stand fads. I strongly people who blindly follow trends and fashion.

However, after I experienced how the craft beer fad completely over-the-toply took IPAs to excessive extremes, I was trying see on the bright of things, and hope that the gose line would catch on, and it seemed that it would for a little while there.

Of course, I didn't want it to be ruined like the IPA line was, but I was hoping that there would be more expression and options for the gose type of ales.

Until, it seems, that the craft beer lines and fad has plummeted just like every modern shallow fashion seems to do.

Only to be replaced by cider and white claw.

I blame "the internet", younger millenials and z.

Hmm. I take your point. I’d be glad it didn’t catch on. I’m kind of lucky with beer, as in the Rustbelt the microbrew thing has been going on very strong for 30 years with very little consideration for what’s big in the main cities, aside from a few token attempts at trendy styles. Sometimes they catch on and become flagships long after the trend is forgotten, other times they just die.

Fuck ciders tho, that we can agree on. The seltzer craze is just rebooted wine coolers with viral marketing, that does not concern me.

Lemme guess, you actually like yuengling original lager?

Alright beer for like a dollar a bottle. Sure do.

Taylor Swift would be ashamed to have you as a fan.

I like fat tire, and I also like Yuengling.

Their barrel aged series (la folie) is actually pretty decent and often at a cheaper price point than other barrel aged sours, and even found widely on tap at times.

Other than that? Ehhh

This is going to get bigger, in numerous beer and business discussions about beer and the fact that they are currently "employee owned" and it the employees are supposed to have to approve.

New Belgium is current the 4th largest American craft brewery, and one of the originals, after Sam Adams, yuengling, and Sierra Nevada.

But Sam Adams shouldn't really count anymore, they are too big, and yuengling just sucks all the way around.

Sierra Nevada and New Belgium have the only ones that really counted in this category. https://www.reddit.com/r/beer/comments/dypddl/new_belgium_to_be_acquired_by_kirinowned_lion/

People that talk about beer using more than 5-10 words should be put in a ditch

Don't you want to hear about the mouthfeel of my Homebrewed peppermint chocolate milk Stout? It has surprisingly smooth finish, and you can still detect the toasted grains underneath the added cocoa and fresh peppemint leaves I put in the secondary fermenter. I also went off script and added a few extra pounds of dark malt extract to boost the abv. I figured for being a rich dessert style beer, I might as well give it a little extra punch and boy does it deliver!

Beer sucks "it's an acquired taste" no retard it's garbage and eventually you drink enough of it that you don't immediately feel like spitting it out. it also makes you fat just fucking drink scotch or vodka like a non-fag

I chase my preferred Sierra Nevada Pale Ale sips with Pappy Van Winkle or Talisker.

What kind of drinker are you?
