RUNESCAPE IN MELTDOWN - The whistle is blown after a youtuber decided that discord rules aren't legally binding. It turns out that the subreddit mods conspired with Jagex to bury stories of a huge duplication glitch for quite some time. Trust is destroyed as the virtual economy is saved!

Jagex (company that runs Runescape) was trying to keep under wraps the fact that someone figured out a way to duplicate gold (currency in game) and I think it was either put a third or maybe half of the total currency in the game, back in the economy over night which would completely destroy any prices for items purchased with that gold.
Hereβs the TLDR: think if someone just printed 50% of the US total currency, and dumped it back into the economy over night and was usable currency. Then the US government did the best they could to keep this covered up.

Cover it up ha they would just call it Quantitative Easing and take credit for saving the economy

Man finds cheat code for infinite money in online game. Instead of undoing the money that was added, they refused to acknowledge anything happened. Black market prices for game currency dropped around 16% overnight.

through a connection glitch players can duplicate stacks of cash. in theory they could triple if not more the amount of gold in circulation.

Runescape has a drama calendar. Why does r/drama not have a drama calendar?
