I was born in Kazakhstan, and the only games men played there consisted of card games and crosswords (not counting sports like shooting and chess), and even then mostly while drinking and camping to pass the time. When you put it like that, I think it might be a cultural thing. I was born in Kazakhstan, and the only games men played there consisted of card games and crosswords (not counting sports like shooting and chess), and even then mostly while drinking and camping to pass the time. Even computer games were seen as something exclusively for high schoolers and maybe those in university. Im not sure how much its changed since i left, but back then an adult collecting and assembling Legos and paying 400usd for it would have brought great shame to their whole family
You ask what the alternative is, I would say what needs to be done is shaming and mockery; it may be cold, and it may not fix him up into a respectable man, but at the very least it will set an example.
