I don't know how you can really compare the political climate in the UK to the US tbh.
The left in the UK lost because they refused to take a hard stance on Brexit in an election primarily about Brexit.
It wasn't really about policy outside of that. While I suspect neoliberals and Biden-shills the world around will try to use this as evidence we totally have to keep de-regulating industry and sucking the banks off, I'm not so convinced.
