I'm real torn about SRD.

On one hand, whenever I'm feeling down about something I can go over there and find a cope thread about how some fat fuck is getting kicked out of the basement by his parents because respecting whammen on Twitter doesn't pay a living wage, or how his tranny girlfriend sodomizing him doesn't make him gay or even catch the occasional 500 word essay on Steven's Universe or Rick and Morty that some estradiol addled tweaker wrote at 4am after they rubbed themselves raw to loli hentai.

Anyway, I can look at that shit and no matter how down I feel I can always say to myself, "Self, at least you're not this pathetic fat piece of shit."

I know I'm not alone in this, so on some level I think SRD provides a great service to the general community by just existing, much in the way how traveling freak shows would in times past help people get past the pain of half of their kids dying from smallpox.

However, it's hard to gloss over the fact that every single user there has at least one crippling mental illness that is being enabled and emboldened by the existence of the place. I mean, really ,Reddit is just enabling mental illness at this point and it completely flies under the radar just because we happen to find them funny.

That's not cool guys.

SRDines are not just freaks, fatties and losers. They are also people of a kind. Sure, they probably can't really be cured of all of their delusions, but we could at least stop encouraging them and providing a place for them to congregate and reinforce their mental illnesses. Reddit has really dropped the ball on this one if you ask me.
