Weeb? Skyrim and elder scrolls are American made video games based on European lore and history. I had too google the weeb word. I actually don’t like anime I just happened to like medieval fantasy genres which is pretty different than what you are suggesting and it was developed in the USA by a USA based studio. Learn what words mean and what about the subjects before you start talking shit you look like a 12 year old little boy btw get the fuck out of here you little cunt

any job application tips?

I legit put down I spent time on 4chan so I was totally immune to radicalisation and gore shit in my application to Facebook internet police.

They took 2 years to respond with a go fuck yourself.

On a serious note, moderating anything has proven to cause extreme mental illness. In fact, just recently, cognizant, who is a 3rd party content moderation team for Facebook, pulled out of moderating Facebook forums because they were concerned about the mental health of their workers. It's always going to be an uphill battle, so you might as well make the internet, the wild west.

so you might as well make the internet, the wild west.

That's been tried, and it's not working.

That's been tried, and it's not working.

What's being tried right now is control, and it does far more damage to the controllers and the community

The fact that an outsourcing/call center company has backed out should tell you all you need to know. Plutocrats from the 1890s had more regard for the 8 year olds working 14 hour shifts in their coal mines than cell center companies do for their entire workforce.

I can think of only one other job that was so damaging to the workers that an alternative had to be found to make it feasible; the einsatzgruppen before the gas chambers. That should tell you something.

Google created a dedicated queue for videos believed to contain violent extremism and staffed it with dozens of low-paid immigrants from the Middle East. Moderators make $18.50 an hour — about $37,000 a year — and have not received a raise in two years.

At least they are wagecucks and don't do it for free

Wait, why are they bringing them to America to make them jannies, can't they work anywhere with an internet connection? Because $18.50 and hour is a good wage in lots of countries.

They aren’t bringing them, they’re just hiring people already here. And I guess Middle Eastern people are more willing to do that job (I mean if you’re form Iraq you’ve probably seen the real thing).

You can’t sponsor someone’s immigration for a low skilled job like that.

Laanguage skills seem to be the big thing. Also it's not like people just started fleeing from the Middle East three years ago despite what /r/worldnews thinks.

Most of them are probably Christians who left over a decade ago. Pretty much every Christian Arab outside Lebanon has ended up somewhere in the west by now.

Google internet jannies are $26 an hour but only fresh college grads or green cards get picked up. They also realized they hired too many language jannies for some languages and shitcanned them a month later after fully training them. Google AI also sucks donkey dick for Arabic and they need Arabic jannies more than other languages.

Workers on the site describe feeling anxiety, depression, night terrors, and other severe mental health consequences after doing the job for as little as six months.

Good.

$18.50 an hour, or about $37,000 a year.

lol, trading your sanity for 37k / year

What if you pay them more

They do it for free PTSD

Sounds like a lot of them are doing shift work according to their problems.

Need more data to train the algorithm to do it automatically

The algorithms are terrible at this kind of job. They can't distinguish between serious and frivolous discussion of a topic. That's why videos like "my experience with oppression as a gay teen" are getting stamped alongside "conversion therapy success stories"

All they can do is tell that the topic is controversial. ML is a "get you 80% of the way without actually understanding the problem" solution, which isn't good enough for many applications.
