Why the hell anyone would see a movie opening weekend is beyond me. When I go to the theater I choose the most dead showings I can find. The last 4 movies I saw in the theater have had a total of 2 other people in them. It's so much nicer to have the whole theatre to yourself.
I'm a very social person but there's no socializing during a movie so why not cut out all that bullshit? The only thing a room full of other people could possibly do is ruin the experience. I sneak in beers, I hit my weed vape, I rip loud farts during the quiet parts, it's like a private screening and it's fucking great. My theater has the dope-ass roomy recliner chairs and the nice screens and sound system. I'm telling you the last showing on a Tuesday night 2-3 weeks after release is the only way to see a movie. It'll change your life.
The point is that with nobody else in the theater I can do whatever I want and don't have to worry about ruining the experience for someone else nor having someone else ruin it for me. So yes, it is very cool. 😎😎😎
This is absolutely true of most movies, though I'll contend that watching the new Tarantino movie this past summer in a packed indie theater on opening night was probably the best screening experience I've ever had.
Though that was probably because the audience was almost all boomers and young professional types who knew when to shut the fuck up. I assume this wouldn't have been the case had I seen it in some dirty prole theater with capeshitters 🤮
Niche content can be fine with other people. I wouldn't go see rocky horror or some grindhouse shit by myself but but if I am just trying to watch a regular movie there is zero reason to have anyone else there.
Because when that few people visit, you can bet they delegate the screening to one of the shitty theaters, with smaller screens and poorer sound systems.
Depends on the movie. I saw Joker in the main theater all by myself. They don't just switch the theaters up on a whim and all the theaters are mostly empty at 1030pm on a Tuesday. My town isn't huge but we have one of those nice new Regal RPX joints so even the smaller rooms are top notch.
It's pretty fucking sweet. It's all reserved seating too so you can see how many people are in the showing and where they are sitting to further avoid them. When I went to see Joker the only person I saw the whole night was the kid scanning my QR code on my phone when I walked in. It was completely deserted when I left. Even the employees were gone. I also buy senior tickets to save myself a couple of bucks because when you do it online nobody is going to call you on that shit. Truly a delightful cinematic experience.
People like to shit on niche fanbases (like Rick and Morty) and weebs for their obsessive nature and embarrassing behavior.
But when you think about it, weebs and R&M fans at least enjoy some quality entertainment and have something to discuss.
I’d argue that the Star Wars fanbase is the most retarded one, praising the prequels and the sequels unironically and getting extra defensive whenever someone points out that those movies are shit. I’ve never seen a group so entrenched in defending the quality of something that mediocre, like it’s a masterpiece from top to bottom and disliking one makes you a nostalgic contrarian incel.
Like, even the majority of R&M fans agree that the quality of episodes is all over the place.
It’s also more prevalent than any other fanbase combined. Which makes it extra annoying.
Being a pottercel worse. At least with spaceshit you have a small amount of good content. There is no good potter content and the pottercels are more rabid than spaceshiters.
For one, the Potter fandom pales in comparison to Star Wars.
And I would argue that the the original wandshit is better than Prequels and Sequels. The universe of Harry Potter is one of complacent bureaucrats being slowly turned into Nazis. That’s more interesting than anything in the PT or the ST
I really don’t watch starshit, someone explain wtf is going on? Why are people mad that a space witch with a lightning sword is the daughter of a space wizard, who also has a light sword?
Oh no sweaty, the patriarchy is because of men pathetically afraid that their balls are too small. Fragile toxic masculinity - have you learned literally nothing?

Because we're not all turbo-autists that shrink in fear of human contact?

Were people really not expecting adam driver's character to die? He was like Super Hitler for most of the series.

star wars fans go to massive rallies to hear the C3PO actor talk about nonsense then go home and post on twitter about how trump fans are brainwashed

That’s not interesting. It’s poorly written leftoid nonsense. And being better than awful garbage is not saying much.
The PT is similarly about the evil nazi rise and it’s also shit.
1 MagicHoudini 2019-12-21
The PT is paper thin compared to wandshit, imagine that

What is more oppressive than holding the contents of an egg over womyn, to show them your power?
It's not my job to educate you. Don't attempt to mansplain to me again, pig.

God damn what a fukkin mess of a film. If I was Carrie Fisher I'd have been happy to RIP if it meant I didnt have to watch this shit.

1 callaghanrs 2019-12-21
All of Luke Skywalker's family dies and Rey (granddaughter or something of the evil lightning wizard from the first series) steals his last name
1 onafriday 2019-12-21
Based space jewess owning the patriarchy by co-opting the name and making it her own. Vice article to come, stay tuned.

1 YourGreatDarshFace 2019-12-21
That's "yoke", as in thing used when hitching up oxen, not "yolk", which is part of an egg.
1 SandorClegane_AMA 2019-12-21
SMH ...
The Yolk refers to the huevos - men with big balls operate the patriarchy.

1 Intravenousmemefluid 2019-12-21
Clearly those women just... hate women... right guys? That's the excuse we use when people hate Disney's Marvel's The Avenger's Star WarsTM , right?
1 shitcapedcrusader 2019-12-21
Is this really what the movies are like in America? I thought it was a joke that everyone is yelling out? It’s like that seinfeld episode
1 SandorClegane_AMA 2019-12-21
Apparently it was just a private screening - Rey-Kylo fans made a group booking.
