On 9/5/18 I met my best friend. Nearly 5 months later she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Just a reminder that being a father is not about “blood” but about being available with unconditional love and support
Way to be retarded. The only people dividing America are rightoids who can’t handle hearing what witnesses have to say. They’re free to ignore what they have to say but not letting the public hear it in the trial just means they’re afraid of what the people will hear.
Whatever you say. Calling witnesses isn’t unpopular and is wanted by the America people by pretty much all polling including from right wing sources. The only people who don’t want it and GOP politicians who are afraid they’ll lose their job if the witnesses implicate trump.
but why would shills for the left tell the truth when even the fbi lied about their agenda? After all this shit you think they're going to change their mind about dems telling the truth?
Yeah just a bunch of fbi agents telling each other they're going to take the president down. Nothing to see here. Maybe the people at the top didn't technically break any rules but let me ask you this. If a cop does something you perceive as wrong and then an investigation by the state clears them of wrong doing, do you believe them or do you believe they covered for the cop?
What I mean is why would you trust the fbi or cia over leaked confirmed conversations? The same guy who said he couldn't take the risk of getting trump elected led the russian meddling investigation.
In the same vein you're asserting that the state investigating a cop means he's free and clear. What I'm saying is why do you believe them over drumpf if neither of them have any evidence?
It may shock you but the investigation into wrong doing was conducting by people that had nothing to do with the other investigation. If there was any Barr and the other trumpet sycophants would have been all over it but there isn’t any. We also know now there were also FBI agents sending pro trump messages to each other. That’s not wrong either people have political opinions they keep separate from their jobs all the time. None of them took any actions that on either account that influenced the investigations one way or the other.
Damn this really made me think. Where were the cries for racism when Chen Xi got rejected to Harvard for being Asian? Or when those woke foids “aww sweaty no’d” that asian girl for speaking up about mayocism
People in America (well, mostly mayos) are completely retarded on immigration from Mexico. Basically, the country is hugely racist and "big surprise" it's not the mostly European looking mexicans that are hopping the border.
It'd be like if the population of the inner city Chicago suddenly decided to head north to Canada.
I'm Hungarian, we didn't create colonies on other continents, we didn't participate in the slave trade, we were just chilling in Europe, and these American liberals want to prohibit us from wearing blackface or saying nigger. So we are bigger victims than you can imagine.
I've played Kingdom Come: Deliverance so I know that Hungarian speakers are all filthy Cumans who murdered my family and deserve the sword without mercy
I never thought about it, but a tourist probably could do that quite easily lmao. Just pick a name and address, sign their name, vote, finish up your vacation and fly back to Zimbabwe.
The fact that there are elected senators, putting into the official record, quotes from the hip-hop historical musical "Hamilton" to justify fucking anything is hilarious. Can't wait for Harry Potter to end up in the impeachment sequel.
Ash being turned to Stone and then his friends all coming together to cry about it which ends up saving him is earily similar to how these dumb fucking whores (who, keep in mind, unironically drink cum) think politics should work.
I feel so fucking defeated. I know this isn't the acquittal and we all have expected Trump to get acquitted since the start but fucking hell. It feels like the world over Authoritarians are the ones coming out ahead and nothing the people do or want has any affect. I just don't have much faith for any true improvements to be passed any more.
The sad thing is people will always view this as the darkest time in American presidential history. Not because Drumpf is a power hungry moron with the Executive capacity of a baked potato but because of how strong social media's presence makes us think things are worse than they are.
I guarantee if Twitter was as much of an influential powerhouse during the Bush administration, he would've been as vilified.
There is hardly any good meme material against pence. Considering you and everyone else is still using the same “Pens electrocutes the gays” meme that you have been using for five years now.
It's amazing that they think anyone who seriousposts on /r/politics was ever anything other than ridiculously leftwing. Like, yea, no shit you were gonna vote for a Democrat, literally nothing that could happen or could have happened would change that. What, are you saying if they had impeached him you'd suddenly be willing to vote for a Republican?
it's also like a few thousand people in there seething max. assuming they all decided to vote every single election, when they wouldn't have before, they're still spread over the whole US, meaning it would be a handful of people in each district doing it and a similarly negligible amount per state. it literally doesn't matter. GOP can get a far greater electoral bump with a single redistricting. fucking idiots.
I just don't get the dissonance, don't they at least look into their subscriber count? Or at the least do the wonderful art that is counting whatever epeen points they think is higher and then applying it to the sheer girth that is the 300+ million population with... I think a 43% active voterbase?
Make a note: When President Biden (or Buttigieg, or Bloomberg, or Sanders, or Warren) does something possibly illegal, remind your screaming right wing friends/family members:
If the President thought it was in the national interest, it cannot be a crime.
Even if it were a crime, a sitting President cannot be charged with any crime.
The only legitimate way to remove a sitting President is by waiting until the next election.
This is the precedent that is being set by the Republican Party.
I dunno man, everyone seemed pretty cool with Obama drone striking children nonstop so I dont think this Ukraine shit is that high up.
Yeah, those jihadists who potentially could be a threat are definitely worse than the guy who spent billions funding terrorism across the world. He might have had the blood of a few hundred thousand people on his hands, but at least Tripoli was stable.
You caught me. Ghaddafi sent troops to back Idi Amin's invasion of Tanzania, invaded Chad, did everything he could to make the Lebanese Civil War more violent, and put up the money for decades of bloodshed in the Philippines, but I'm the real warmonger because... I'm somebody on reddit who isn't a child and knows that the world existed before the final Harry Potter novel.
Nice of you to bring up shit that happened before the turn of the millennia, literally decades before we overthrew him. You do realize that he had changed his ways, dumped his WMD program and had been cooperating with the US on issues of terrorism after 9/11 right? Destroying him just sent a message to every other autocratic régime we're negotiating with that we'll just stab them in the back once they cooperate with us and disarm themselves. This was a terrible move to make when you're trying to negotiate on nukes with Iran and North Korea. Objectively a total disaster, not even getting into the refugee crisis is caused, which resulted in a rising far-right in Europe as well as Brexit, or the disastrous results for the locals who have to deal with terrorists and warlords fighting for turf for nearly a decade now, or the slavery.
Ghadaffi never did 90% of the shit he's accused of. The terrorists connections were mostly made up by the US as an excuse to strike him in the 80s, but he was nuts and started taking credit for tons of attacks everyone (exect the jewnited states) concluded he had no involvement in. In reality he has very little international pull and embraced the fake terrorist connection to boost his anti-american revolutionary cred for his people. Not a great guy but the terrorist stuff and his attrocities are heavily exaggerated.
Yes, the entire story of Ghaddaffi's life is his struggle against Hillary Clinton. The many wars that he was responsible for around the world were just a prelude to his showdown with Killary. It takes someone with a real high IQ to boil things down to the essential facts like that. Kudos to you.
He is a "stocking horse" candidate, keeping Hillary Rodom's spot warm. He will "retire" from the race (self inflicted 2 in the back of the head, or a dentist diagnosis) allowing The DNC's one true boss and financier to come in to and have her re-match.
No, he's talking about Hunter Biden, who now sits on the board of a Ukrainian energy company with a monthly salary of something like $60,000 USD, all with no experience in Ukrainian business or the energy industry.
Having a Biden on the board is absolutely worth it to Zlochevsky, and they got great mileage out of him. He actually resigned - and they're still getting work out of him.
Between buying half of Ukraine's law-enforcement arm and putting a Biden on the board, Zlochevsky has managed to delay any serious investigations into his Yanukovich-era machinations for six fucking years. And right this second, Ukraine is delaying some of those investigations because of the political sensitivity, and have signalled that they won't resume until after the election.
Basically, Zlochevsky knows his business better than you do.
He was the VP's son on a board of a company that did some shady shit under Yanukovich before the pro-Western coup, part of Zlochevsky's multi-pronged strategy to obfuscate and delay the inevitable investigations. Being a Biden was his only responsibility.
Cush fucking gig - biyearly meetings (not even in that shithole of a country), zero responsibility.
No. Trump demanded an investigation into Joe Biden's son if Ukraine wanted their congressionally approved defense funds in order to fight against Russia's invasion forces into Ukraine.
Irrelevant. There is a transcript. Where you not aware of that fact? OMFG, you're this zealous and yet you're not even aware there's a transcript!!
Consider the possibility that you are woefully misinformed, given that you didn't know there was a transcript.
Anyone who knows there's a transcript wouldn't bother saying, "there are people who listened" because the transcript is obviously superior to a person's recollection.
Fact: you know so little about this that you didn't know there's a transcript.
Proof: if you knew there was a transcript, you would have quoted from it instead of saying "there are witnesses" since a transcript is better than witnesses.
Conclusion: the reason you're wrong about this is - you haven't researched it enough. Your claim,
Trump demanded an investigation into Joe Biden's son if Ukraine wanted their congressionally approved defense funds
is false, as no such demand, and no such quid-pro-quo appears in the transcript.
Edit: Downvoted by the android.
Nope. I just now logged in, and I see that your comment is at zero. I'll go ahead and drop it to -1 just to show you hadn't downvoted it until now.
Is it based to hate both of them? Because at the end of the day, nobody powerful gives a shit about you unless you're upper middle class, socially engaged, and part of an interest group they're dependent on for votes or funds. I legit wouldn't even be opposed to the Reddit tankie's fantasy revolution so long as there was a proportionally powerful thermidorian reaction-sized backlash that killed off all of the Communists in the aftermath.
No one cares about the upper middle class lmao. They get shit on the most since they get taxed like the rich, get none of the benefits, and face all the squeeze of higher education, health care, etc
That behaviour is 100% going to happen when the next Dem president gets into office, regardless of what year that will be. Remember how left-wing rhetoricians complained endlessly of obstructionism during the Obama presidency? Now it's all "#resist" and calling on people to do whatever they can to make it difficult for the Trump administration to operate. It'll be the exact same thing in the next party switch- the people on reddit complaining about Trump doing XYZ will champion doing XYZ when a Dem is in office.
Principles don't really exist in top-level politics. People justify it to themselves by saying "if we maintain the moral high-ground, we'll lose the battle. it's the enemy's fault that we have to abandon our principles. So really, we're still the good guys".
Exactly. I’m calling it now, once the Dems seat a President, the Republicans will call for an impeachment in a similar manner that Dems called for one.
90% of our politicians are man children. The other 10% think socialism will work
Its the way its been and mainly the reason why we've delegated congress to basically being the executive's bitch and stripped every important responsibility away from them and turned into a theatrical news producing machine. The only thing they really have left is budget and even that's mostly ignored by the executive and they do whatever they want anyways. They could write actual laws, but that's too hard so they mostly just pass virtue signalling pieces of paper condemning or praising somebody, huge tomes just organizing a new department in the executive branch, or whatever the executive writes and tells them to pass. Theyre like children who try to hide behind the executive branch to let them take all the blame for anything bad that happens.
Think of anything congress is responsible for -- oversight, war decleration, power of the purse, impeachment -- and ask yourself, "what do they actually do with these responsibilities besides bitch at eachother?"
You gotta pick something different, daddy is drone sticking children at a much higher rate and doesn't report civilian casualties because they make him look bad.
At least obummer had the balls to let the world know who he was killing.
I'd invite anyone with any emotion about this to review Andrew Jackson's impeachment articles and revel in the fact that the President most people consider particularly responsible for some genocide slid right by the process.
I may be half in the bag already but my US History recalls the first 9 all stem from him circumventing an act of congress, being a gigantic ass (seriously read 10 and tell me it doesn't seem familiar), telling the courts that he won't enforce their laws, and not an actual article but it should probably be mentioned is particularly responsible for some old fashioned genocide.
Still finished his term!
Impeachment should probably be a mechanism to remove shitty people from office. But it's not, it's a mechanism for the President's own party to remove him, because the other side is always down to clown.
yeah the entire government was created on the presumption that impeachment like every other check & balance will be abused for political purposes, no one seems to understand thats the only way a goverment will ever achieve any level of fairness
when the supreme court ruled jackson couldnt trail-of-tears the cherokees out of georgia anymore, jackson literally told them "you and what army, get fucked" and did it anyway "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it.”
It's the end of the world, China has airborne GMO Super AIDS spreading worldwide, and Arr Drama has more rational historical discussion than r/politics, and 4chan is picking the president of the US and the Prime Minister of the UK.
So i combined andrew jackson and johnson into one person for which i blame drugs but still stand by the original point of impeachment only being a tool for a party to remove its own president
That's not what the supreme court ruled, nor is it what Jackson meant when he said that.
The ruling was a dispute on what exactly Georgia had authority over pertaining to indians living on disputed land. The supreme court ruled against Georgia and Jackson said that to basically say "i'm not sending an army to Georgia to stop them, so theyre gonna do what they do."
The point you were trying to make is valid, though. Impeachment is a political process and any majority can ram it through the house if they're willing, but it is really a tool for the party of the president by design. If impeachment is narrowly passing the house with a party line vote, then its going to get skadooshed in the senate.
And its really how it should be because congress is the retarded stepchild of the three branches and cant be trusted with anything requiring objectivity. Everyone trying to pretend this process should be some courtroom LARP is delusional to the political nature of the legislative branch and what that actually means in practice. Congress will always act in a manner that will get them re-elected. The relevance of the impeachable offense only matters in that context, so trying to pretend like this is a courtroom is a useless venture that is misguided and naive.
When all you do is listen to left wing media 24/7 you’d think Trump was going to be impeached and die of a heart attack while Bernie and Warren dunk on him.
Like damn nigga we still got an election wtf. Though I would have liked to have witnesses because A. I'm a libtard so duh and B. More drama from Mustache Daddy and Creepy Uncle Joe Jr on the stand.
Okay I've got some grade A prime liberal cope for you:
This is a good thing for the Dems. Acquittal was always a foregone conclusion but even burger retards can understand "a trial without witnesses is a cover-up, not an exoneration." The Reps should have had Bolton and Hunter testify and acquitted anyways, saying Daddy did the wrong thing for the right reason.
even burger retards can understand "a trial without witnesses is a cover-up, not an exoneration."
To put it in terms r/politics can understand, the impeachment is like Harry Potter's disciplinary hearing at the Wizengamot and the Dems are basically Cornelius Fudge.
Right but if I phrased it like that, the rightoids would accuse me of cope and mock me. By approaching it from a dramanaut perspective (witnesses = more drama), I've managed to get some rightoids to agree that witnesses = good.
You have to know how to judge your audience, something leftoids continuously fail at.
Tbqh I did think the Iran ordeal was going to escalate out of control, but so far it's been a total win for Drumpf. I really am not seeing how Dems are going to win in November.
Also, it can’t be stressed enough that America really shouldn’t be classified as a developed country anymore.
Rampant corruption, an oligarchy dressed up as a democracy, police forces that act like gangs, one of the most pathetic healthcare systems on the planet, openly (and blatantly) murdering suspects who are held in federal prison with no accountability, military spending at the cost of its own population to build an army that is exclusively used to empower and enrich corporations, and constantly in contempt of all its old allies in order to ally up with the world’s dictators and most contemptible leaders.
Canada’s score has improved slightly, from 9.15 in 2018 to 9.22 in 2019, and in the global ranking it is joint seventh (with Denmark). It significantly outperforms its southern neighbour, the US, which fell below the threshold for a “full democracy ” in 2016 owing to a further decline in public trust in US institutions, a development that preceded the election of Donald Trump that year and indeed helps to explain his success in winning the presidency. Since then the US’s score has held steady at 7.96, and it ranks 25th globally.
So all this screeching about how the US is now a dictatorship and democracy is dead is a major factor in why the US is now regarded as a "flawed democracy".
Why does the electoral college exist? Because the drafters didn't trust the voters. Lmao.
Even if you ignore that, you've still got chronic bipartisan gerrymandering, judges being appointed because of their political views/affiliations, runaway dark money in campaign spending, partial media organisations with no regulation, and pure nepotism playing out in appointments to public service.
Those are all symptomatic of a third-world dictatorship, not a democracy.
It's not like this is confined to the US though. The UK is ranked as a "full democracy" by the Economist, yet we have all of what you wrote there with the possible exception of the judicial appointments.
Point being - there's an idealized vision of democracy and shining cities on hills, and then there's reality. But this cuts both ways - I've been in third-world countries - I know what those systems are like, and the US isn't there yet. So if we're talking about symptoms, the US may have a hacking cough and a runny nose, but that doesn't mean it has lung cancer.
I'll stop seriousposting after one more thing. Murakami has that nice line - "Everyone, deep in their hearts, is waiting for the end of the world to come" and he was right. /pol/ is all about happenings and r/politics is prophecizing King Trump and death camps in every city, but it's the same thing. People want to be the star of their own dramas and get upset when they realize life is just some slow-boil sitcom.
If you dared suggest to a Brit that their public service isn't politically neutral or that appointments are done due to nepotism, they'd glass you.
Other way around, bruv. The UK is a seething hotbed of class resentment and an uneasy mix of hatred/cap-doffing towards the Oxbridge system that lies at the root of the establishment.
This is actually a very good take, and something I agree with. The types of examples that people use to hold as "shining examples of real democracy" have one thing in common -- they're not powerful or relevant to the power structure of the bigger picture.
These things we see happening are the byproduct of power, which is symptomatic in all forms of government because it is the nature of human beings. When put into context that America holds a hemegony on military might, its actually doing quite well in terms of limiting the amount of power it could exerpt. If a nation held this level of dominant military might at any other point in history, it'd be on its way to conquering half the world and sniffing for what to fuck on next. I am obviously biased, but if one asshole has to be big papa to keep us from spinning into world wars, then id rather it be America.
I believe that politicians and media are a symptom of the people, not the other way around. We get what we ask for. Right now the general population wants their political enemies to be sent to the gallows, and the politicians and media members are trying to oblige. A majority in America is bloodthirsty right now and this is what we get -- investigations, conspiracies and impeachment. It's all politics, the public discourse. In reality the government is still functioning, our legislative branch is just retarded -- which is the American way. We like our legislative branch retarded, its how its always been.
The really weird thing is that I included all the text in brackets, yet everything after the ~~ is not shown as part of the link. But the link still works.
Because the media is owned by the very wealthy, and they would rather Trump stay in office forever then ever let the country move slightly more left then centrist candidates. Just look at all the coverage in main stream media, its always covered with positive spin leaning to the right, and is very critical of any leftwing idea. Even the "left" news like CNN and MSNBC always cover from centrist or center right PoV rather than from the left.
If you're a janny, I will treat you like shit. I will treat your family like shit. I want nothing but the worst for you. Go get cancer from a coal mine.
Your way of life is going to be torn away from you and your families, and there's nothing you can do about it.
If any of these clowns thought Trump was ever getting convicted in a Senate held by Republicans, much less in a trial requiring more than a simple majority, they are beyond help.
They probably hoped they’d get some witnesses to hurt the presidents chance of reelection. No ones ever been removed from office before, you’d have to be dumb to think it’s gonna happen now.
I haven't followed any of this but was looking forward to the drama, but now I'm completely lost, can someone dumb what happened down as much as drama-ly possible?
The senate voted not to allow anymore witness testimony which essentially ends the impeachment trial. They will vote to fully clear trump in a few days
"Spoils of war. Hunt them down. Pass legislation that strips former politicians of safety for their crimes. Target them specifically I don’t care if they won’t hold Themselves accountable someone will have to"
How could anyone be against implementing this political system? Democracy has failed, tribal warfare is the only way forward.
I haven't been paying attention to this impeachment shit at all, like not even a little bit. It is one of the least consequential things to happen in the past century I think.
What's the radical centrist summary of this whole impeachment thing. Sounds like the dems actually got some dirt on him but republican Senate cock blocked them, but I could be misinterpreting.
The House wanted more witnesses after the Bolton leaks book I believe, the Senate said "fuck you, you shoulda done this earlier". It was also probably another "fuck you" for not allowing their own pet witnesses into the House witness testimonies.
Technically the House already interviewed a ton of witnesses before they shipped it to the senate; then they tried to hold onto it.
None of the witnesses had first hand accounts of what happened. The Dems tried to subpoena members of the administration with more knowledge, but Trump claimed executive privilege and blocked them from testifying.
Dems claimed it was too important to wait for the courts to decide if executive privilege was enough to block witnesses, they vote for impeachment. Nancy Pelosi didn't send the impeachment to the Senate right away because she wanted Republicans to agree to hold the trial in the way the Dems wanted.
Mitch McConnell laughs in her face and tells her they don't get to decide how the Senate conducts the trial. Unlike the House the Senate actually can't function while the trial is taking place. The House can still run their committees and do other things while gathering evidence, the Senate can't. So if they Senate has to call more witnesses and wait on the courts, the trial effectively blocks the Senate from legislating for months. McConnell says they ain't doing that shit, it should have been done earlier.
Trusting Bolton, the guy who architected the WMD conspiracy to get us into Iraq, to get something of actual substance for them was their first mistake.
Literally everyone's tired of this 3 year faggotry and their last ditch effort being full of fillibusters just pissed everyone off. And obvious attempts at what amounts to "No yous."
Did they really think droning on and on about nothing will work in this kind of envrionment?
They probably even thought they won the "silent majority" lol.
The 'silent majority's' more pissed at the amount of resources this took, and the retarded shit that Schiff said.
I don't even understand what they're bitching about - this is basically the best outcome they could have hoped for. Removal was never going to happen, and Bolton's little revelation made the refusal to call any of the principals the essential admission of guilt that it was.
In the end daddy gets a spanking he desperately needs, and the country doesn't have to deal with the complete clusterfuck that removing the potus would bring.
Why would any of them be surprised or hurt over this? We all knew with 100% that the Republicans are not going to kick out their Daddy. They should be happy with the Impeachment win and Bolton shit.

Just impeach him again and call all the witnesses in the house since the senate GOP is obviously afraid to hear what they have to say.

Lol so you’re just delusional. The IG report cleared the FBI of any wrong doing or bias in their investigation.
1 FearOfBees 2020-01-31
Yeah just a bunch of fbi agents telling each other they're going to take the president down. Nothing to see here. Maybe the people at the top didn't technically break any rules but let me ask you this. If a cop does something you perceive as wrong and then an investigation by the state clears them of wrong doing, do you believe them or do you believe they covered for the cop?
1 ManBearFridge 2020-01-31
I'm confused, does the cop in this analogy represent the FBI or Trump?

1 come_visit_detroit 2020-01-31
1 1262663748488484 2020-01-31
Ghadaffi never did 90% of the shit he's accused of. The terrorists connections were mostly made up by the US as an excuse to strike him in the 80s, but he was nuts and started taking credit for tons of attacks everyone (exect the jewnited states) concluded he had no involvement in. In reality he has very little international pull and embraced the fake terrorist connection to boost his anti-american revolutionary cred for his people. Not a great guy but the terrorist stuff and his attrocities are heavily exaggerated.

1 HodorTheDoorHolder_ 2020-01-31

1 variedpageants 2020-01-31
1 HodorTheDoorHolder_ 2020-01-31
Rightoid nerds mad lol
1 variedpageants 2020-01-31
Fact: you know so little about this that you didn't know there's a transcript.
Proof: if you knew there was a transcript, you would have quoted from it instead of saying "there are witnesses" since a transcript is better than witnesses.
Conclusion: the reason you're wrong about this is - you haven't researched it enough. Your claim,
is false, as no such demand, and no such quid-pro-quo appears in the transcript.
Nope. I just now logged in, and I see that your comment is at zero. I'll go ahead and drop it to -1 just to show you hadn't downvoted it until now.

1 artemis_m_oswald 2020-01-31

1 gurthanix 2020-01-31
1 editthnksforgold 2020-01-31
Exactly. I’m calling it now, once the Dems seat a President, the Republicans will call for an impeachment in a similar manner that Dems called for one.

1 MiltonFriedmanisbae1 2020-01-31

1 -M-o-X- 2020-01-31
1 ponyblaze 2020-01-31
yeah the entire government was created on the presumption that impeachment like every other check & balance will be abused for political purposes, no one seems to understand thats the only way a goverment will ever achieve any level of fairness
when the supreme court ruled jackson couldnt trail-of-tears the cherokees out of georgia anymore, jackson literally told them "you and what army, get fucked" and did it anyway "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it.”
1 Lehk 2020-01-31
It's the end of the world, China has airborne GMO Super AIDS spreading worldwide, and Arr Drama has more rational historical discussion than r/politics, and 4chan is picking the president of the US and the Prime Minister of the UK.
1 -M-o-X- 2020-01-31
So i combined andrew jackson and johnson into one person for which i blame drugs but still stand by the original point of impeachment only being a tool for a party to remove its own president
1 ponyblaze 2020-01-31
thats because they are the same person dont believe their lies wake up sheeple
1 MiltonFriedmanisbae1 2020-01-31
That's not what the supreme court ruled, nor is it what Jackson meant when he said that.
The ruling was a dispute on what exactly Georgia had authority over pertaining to indians living on disputed land. The supreme court ruled against Georgia and Jackson said that to basically say "i'm not sending an army to Georgia to stop them, so theyre gonna do what they do."
Read a book, tard.
1 ponyblaze 2020-01-31
im very sorry, it seems my recollection of 10th grade history was inaccurate, but i appreciate you setting it straight for me. i will go read book now
1 MiltonFriedmanisbae1 2020-01-31

1 Kaiser-romulus 2020-01-31
What will libs do when daddy wins again? Cause the dems don’t see too concerned with a viable candidate to go against him.
They got Biden who is a chad who tells people NOT to vote for him like everyday.

To put it in terms r/politics can understand, the impeachment is like Harry Potter's disciplinary hearing at the Wizengamot and the Dems are basically Cornelius Fudge.
1 The_Reason_Pete_Wins 2020-01-31
So Daddy is basically Voldemort and his base is his horcrux?

See this is how I know you're not an OG r/politics user. In the metaphor above, daddy is Harry Potter.

1 Kaiser-romulus 2020-01-31
Yeah if you can seriously sit there and say America isn’t a “developed” country just cause drumpf didn’t get impeached you are truly mentally ill.
1 ComedicSans 2020-01-31
I'm pretty sure they've confused "developed country" (which the US is) and "full democracy" (which the US isn't).
The USA has been categorised as a "flawed democracy" for a while.
1 y________tho 2020-01-31
Self-fulfilling prophecy tho:
So all this screeching about how the US is now a dictatorship and democracy is dead is a major factor in why the US is now regarded as a "flawed democracy".
1 ComedicSans 2020-01-31
Except for that whole "two of the last four Presidential elections were won by the guy who had the least votes" thing too.
1 y________tho 2020-01-31
Yeah, but isn't that more about people's understanding of the electoral college versus the popular vote?
1 ComedicSans 2020-01-31
Why does the electoral college exist? Because the drafters didn't trust the voters. Lmao.
Even if you ignore that, you've still got chronic bipartisan gerrymandering, judges being appointed because of their political views/affiliations, runaway dark money in campaign spending, partial media organisations with no regulation, and pure nepotism playing out in appointments to public service.
Those are all symptomatic of a third-world dictatorship, not a democracy.
1 y________tho 2020-01-31
1 ComedicSans 2020-01-31
If you dared suggest to a Brit that their public service isn't politically neutral or that appointments are done due to nepotism, they'd glass you.
Not for me - I live in a country in the top-5. Suck it, burgers.
1 y________tho 2020-01-31
Other way around, bruv. The UK is a seething hotbed of class resentment and an uneasy mix of hatred/cap-doffing towards the Oxbridge system that lies at the root of the establishment.
You need to watch "The Thick of It" tbqh.
1 ComedicSans 2020-01-31
I preferred 'Yes Minister'.
And to be honest, the Brits have gone full retard in the last decade, they deserve their slide.
1 MiltonFriedmanisbae1 2020-01-31

Come on America do a civil war.

So were the witnesses in the house process shown to be reliable? The rightoids all claim there was hardly any evidence.
1 NoOneAndNotSomeone 2020-01-31
Now impeachment is over.

So a bunch of hearsay and happenstance, and the dems trying to stall while they try to get something of actual substance.

Trusting Bolton, the guy who architected the WMD conspiracy to get us into Iraq, to get something of actual substance for them was their first mistake.

Well that was a waste of time and money.

Can I get a list of all the times when they said Donald Trump would officially become a dictator?
Inauguration
Gorsuch
Kavanaugh
When he fired Comey
When he fired Sessions
When Mueller didn't recommend prosecution
When Mattis quit (rest in spaghetti never forgetti)
When else?

I don't even understand what they're bitching about - this is basically the best outcome they could have hoped for. Removal was never going to happen, and Bolton's little revelation made the refusal to call any of the principals the essential admission of guilt that it was.
In the end daddy gets a spanking he desperately needs, and the country doesn't have to deal with the complete clusterfuck that removing the potus would bring.

You know if it had gone badly for Trump at least $500 would be spent on medals

So much delicious cope! 🤤

Why would any of them be surprised or hurt over this? We all knew with 100% that the Republicans are not going to kick out their Daddy. They should be happy with the Impeachment win and Bolton shit.
