Which portion of the constitution gives the federal government the authority to force private citizens to pay other private citizens for services not rendered? You know not everyone gets bank holidays right?
He's saying shitty jobs don't pay holiday pay. I worked for a few like that out of highschool and you got christmas and thanksgiving off but you weren't paid for it.
Commerce clause was twisted to mean "the feds can do anything they want" in the 1940s because the tyrant FDR threatened to pack the Supreme Court with simps if they didn't stop cucking him by striking down his unconstitutional laws. Look up Wickard v. Filburn and Gonzales v. Raich.
Hell, four of the nine justices thought that beating your wife was close enough to qualify as "interstate commerce" in United States v. Morrison, 529 U.S. 598 (2000).
The point is that interstate and intrastate commerce is inherently linked you illiterate. Imagine skimming wikipedia to get your facts instead of reading the actual opinion. What the fuck do you think the federal minimum wage even is? You can argue that the Federal Government has stretched the meaning of the Commerce Clause too far if you want. You'll be going up against 100 years of Supreme Court precedent, but it's certainly within your right to disagree. It's probably smart to get a law degree first, though your inability to decipher current established law might make that a lot more difficult.
You unironically post in /r/politics, I could weep a tear for every keystroke you've typed in bitter, impotent outrage in the past four years and would still be crying come the heat death of the universe.
each way they've done so was clearly targeted at making things easier for rural whites and harder for urban blacks.
That is a dumb comment, every way that negatively affects urban blacks negatively effects urban whites to a greater degree due to the distances required for them to go and access the services. The only reason that blacks are affected more is that there is greater population density at play in urban areas.
The person in there pointing out we should get rid of our completely fucking stupid social security number system and just give everyone an ID is right. Might even prevent illegals from using other people's social to get paid.
The lolol why not just get id blacks kinda misses part of the picture. When they did this in Wisconsin it was paired with DMV closures and limiting of DMV operating hours just to put every roadblock they could up.
You do not have to take long to put two and two together and realize that if there is a law that can be passed that will have the effect of resulting in disproportionately fewer black voters, Republicans have passed it. Hell the entirety of Jim Crow was enforced without a single mention by name of the black race in any of their voter laws, they had to do that per the 15th amendment. Yes my friends we're supposed to be willfully ignorant here and not realize what is going on.
They really dont have an argument besides muhhh black people are too retarded. Have you ever known tyrone? If he wants crack, he'll find a way. This idea blacks are so poor and stupid they cant exist beyond 5 ft of their home without getting lost or too poor to get back to their crack den is beyond me. There are bums downtown that can cover a 20 mile radius on foot daily just to pick up aluminum cans.
I mean, here’s an actual argument: many of these states in question used to put up ever barrier possible to stop blacks from voting, whether it be poll taxes, a voting test, or just straight violence by Jim Bob and co down at the poll on Election Day. We needed the Voting Rights act to figure this shit out.
With that history in mind, every attempt made by these same states to limit voting (which this is) should be suspect. Not to mention, pretty much all Americans are too lazy to vote as it, but I’m supposed to believe lazy Mexican immigrants are going down and voting for Hilary Clinton??
If you aren’t capable of putting together $25 and two spare hours within a timeframe of 4 years in order to get a driver’s license then I don’t want you voting anyways.
But no, surely people who can’t accomplish the most basic civic tasks have a plethora of wisdom to add to our government.
It was illegal then. It’s illegal now. What we need is government subsidies to provide Ubers and Lyft so that every person can get themselves to the polls, registered or not. We should have MORE than 100% election participation
You ever stand in line at a DMV in the south dude? I showed up at 6:30 and I wasn’t even the first person in line. This was after I showed up at lunch time and was told it was a 5 hour wait.
Most places I’ve lived it’s easy as fuck to get a license. Down here all the DMVs are in strip malls and staffed with 3 people who move at the slowest pace I have ever seen someone work. I’m salaried, don’t have kids and have PTO and it still took me two months to find time to go over to that goddamn shithole.
I’m also a southerner and I got my license very easily. I was even able to cheat on my vision exam, so it’s actually very easy to get a license in the south.

Give every person a free ID and a paid day off to get the ID and a separate paid day off to vote
I think this settles all issues
1 rakrakaon 2020-02-19
That still wouldn't be enough for anyone who thinks blacks can't get driver's licenses.

The constitution does not give them that authority, they'd have to ask the states.
1 THOT-AUDITOR 2020-02-19
You can't keep winning surprise elections in Florida and the Southwest by finding a box of heretofore untallied votes in that model.
This means one party is going to be pretty adamantly against it.
1 ThenextRickSantorum 2020-02-19
The only major case of election fraud in recent news was a Republican. Cry more.

Voter ID is racist? What, are they too dumb to fill out a form?
Motherfucker, if they didnt have state ID then Newports and Olde English would've ceased to exist years ago.
1 watermark1917 2020-02-19
If they were too stupid to fill out a form and you passed a law that required them to fill out a form to vote it would be a 15th amendment violation
