Most notably in the last 24 hours or so Turkey has shot down two Russian SU-24s (their equivalent of A-10s). The problems that Turkey has had with Russia for ever, can't be suppressed and Erdogan knows it now. They're fighting proxy wars against each other in Syria and Libya.
Turkey is pretty pissed at the west for a number of reasons.
1) the jumped through crazy hoops to try and get into the EU, including modifying their currency exchange which fucked their economy for a while. But when it came down to a vote, both Germany and Greece blocked it
2) the Germany vote really pissed off Turkey as post WWII Germany was rebuilt using US funds and Turkish labor.
3) During the Cold War, Turkey considered itself one of the US's strongest allies, allowing bases, listening stations, and missile sites on their land. The US recognizing the Kurds as a resource in Iraq really pissed them off.
4) the current Turkish president is pretty much a copy of Trump, only he can speak multiple languages.
5) the EU has basically been using Turkey as a refugee camp while at the same time fucking with Turkey. So now turkey is like...."fuck it...there is the promise Land" to the refugees.

youve got it backwards dumass. is your whole worldview based on shit you read in r/news comments. industry is booming in the south mainly because of "right wing" policies. meanwhile new england is known as the Rust-Belt as their economy grows at a glacial pace if at all.
case in point; companies like honda and toyota are building their factories in the south because it isnt unionized, the south gets all the high-paying factory jobs in a place where cost of living is extremely low, and the cars are better value than american brands because they dont have a huge union overhead. only a complete brainlet would think the south is the part thats third world
