I was in that thread earlier. Some dude said he blames fat people for quarantine, I said that doesn’t really make sense, he told me that I “sound fat” and deserve to be turned away at the hospital and sent home to die because the country’s resources shouldn’t be wasted on my worthless body.
I know it was just a Reddit troll but as someone who’s currently very anxious about the virus and someone who’s always struggled with weight fluctuation, I can’t say that comment didn’t hurt pretty bad. I’m already terrified and it feels pretty scary to hear I deserve to die because the depression meds I started last year have led me to put on 50 lbs.
You really think I’m not fucking aware? I’m fucking aware and I’m terrified because there’s nothing I can do fast enough to fix this in time. Up until a few years ago I played sports. Even after I quit I was a healthy weight and moderately in shape. I gained weight because I had a literal mental breakdown and the only med combo that helped my brain absolutely gutted my metabolism. I didn’t think too much about my waistline at that time because I was busy trying not to think about killing myself every waking moment of every day. Now that the one is stable, I was ready to start working on the other but I literally cannot lose weight fast enough to get out of the woods during this pandemic.

Probably. It's a combination of never weighing yourself and denial. "Oh I was always a size 38" becomes "oh I was always a size 40" as you subconsciously cycle in bigger and bigger clothing. "That fat roll was always there". By the time it gets so bad it's impossible to deny, it's too late to do anything but either confront the issue (lol) or find someone else to blame.
These fatsos don't even think about what they are saying when they say their metabolism is bad or slow or whatever. If they eat LESS food and become MORE fat, that means that somehow their metabolism has become significantly MORE efficient! Of course they all know deep down that this is a lie they tell themselves.

Many fat people will claim to have attempted weight loss but never really put in the effort. They will count calories (poorly) and exercise (lazily) and then when they see no results they give up.
Then they go on to say "dieting doesn't work" when the truth is they never even really tried. But it's not really considered polite to call them out for this.
