Yeah, it’s the landlords fault. Not the 30 years of government policy that has distorted social housing and encouraged people to invest their hard earned saving/pensions in property.
This right here, and it's the same thing in Canada. Land is the only sane long-term investment. This isn't a recent invention though, the problem isn't land ownership, the problem is overpopulation and young people getting it in their heads that they need to live in a big city or else they're not really living.
There's no end to the complaining about land prices in Ontario and British Columbia, but check out the land prices in other provinces though. For the same price as a shack an hour away from Toronto or Vancouver, you can have a literal mansion in a less populous province and still live in a reasonably big city. I expect the situation is identical elsewhere.
I'm not sure what a solution would be besides some kind of progressive tax based on the number of properties you own/control maybe. But this would probably just create more landlords, not help poor people afford housing.
The good thing about this community, is it’s still based on consent, as no one is fattened against their will. In a way it’s admirable seeing these women do this to themselves, as it shows a real dedication to work against the grain of society and become the sizes they do.
Is it just me, or has this talk about landlords only been booming up recently? I don't remember reading lots about it before the past couple of months.
