I mean he's right, they could use literally any other part of the face or body that actually reacts. It's shitty writers who watch too much anime and have to have special effects on the eyes or face to portray emotion because their tistic brains can't figured out what a furrowed brow or frown are supposed to portray.

I mean, yes OP is being @utistic but he's also mostly right. Eye contact and nonverbal communication are a thing but gleams and glitters in eyes are just lazy cliches that don't describe actual humans very well.
