Seriously. My grandfather was one of the kindest least prejudice people I knew; back in the day he was one of the only dudes working at his hospital to not half-ass treatments to black patients, and once he started running the place he ended up firing a bunch of the doctors who did that.
Eventually he got severe dementia and had to be put in a nursing home. Whenever a black care worker was helping him out he'd smile at them and call them n-slur. First time I saw it in real life it was pretty wild; though none of the staff seemed to mind.
Before the home when he was still in the thralls of it he also pushed his wife down the stairs and stomped on her neck. He got incredibly violent during his downfall.
Dementia absolutely fucks with people and totally transforms them.

Seriously. My grandfather was one of the kindest least prejudice people I knew; back in the day he was one of the only dudes working at his hospital to not half-ass treatments to black patients, and once he started running the place he ended up firing a bunch of the doctors who did that.
Eventually he got severe dementia and had to be put in a nursing home. Whenever a black care worker was helping him out he'd smile at them and call them n-slur. First time I saw it in real life it was pretty wild; though none of the staff seemed to mind.
Before the home when he was still in the thralls of it he also pushed his wife down the stairs and stomped on her neck. He got incredibly violent during his downfall.
Dementia absolutely fucks with people and totally transforms them.

Yeah, honestly it's mostly teenagers who haven't experienced shit and older millennials who are too afraid of human interaction to have experienced shit.
While their grandparents were losing their minds to dementia they were most likely holed up in their rooms playing vidya.
Also, my grandfather on my mom's side also got it; he never got violent like the one on my dad's side, but he once smeared his own shit all over the walls when we left him alone for a few minutes.
Dementia really is insane. It takes incredible people and turns them into something else. I'm sure the woman in wheelchair was in its throes.

Yeah, it's pretty scary when it happens to someone you know well. They get uncharacteristically aggressive, mean, and hostile and when they suddenly snap back to themselves they don't really remember phasing out like that or anything that happened.
