I hate fatties almost as much as i hate women

What about fat women.

Well actually, humans used to jog for 20/30kms for hunting down prey and then rest for 4/5 days and do it again.

Then again they wouldnt have been shoving 14 doughnuts up their piehole everyday

Seriously. If pornhub is suggesting cuck porn for you, it's because their algorithm has determined, scientifically, that you're a cuck. That's all.

This is where I realized he's just fucking with us...

Why?

Dude, how fat and old are you? Maybe I'm just biased because I'm good at running, but 1 mile in 8 minutes isn't that challenging.

Fat.

You just can’t imagine running an 8 minute mile lmao.

bro don't round your back during deadlifts, you'll hurt yourself

No he’s not, I’ve been running for 15 years and I have yet to have any kind of injury, because I was taught the right way to run when I was 14 and it became a habit. When you get fatties that are 100 pounds over weight putting all that weight and momentum on their poor knees it fucking grinds them to dust. Human beings are meant to be long distance runners I completely agree with him when he says it should be a requirement for everyone of us to run an 8 minute mile.

Well I hope to get to an 8min mile soon 😔

Good luck dude, at least your trying.

I'm going to have to disagree a little, even though I'm an avid runner. While not be a lardass helps a lot at preventing injuries (and being close to underweight helps even more for long distance) it's still possible to injure yourself from bad form if certain muscles are weak (which is mostly what causes bad form anyways). It's not likely to happen if you are running less than 50 miles a week, but even the bests marathoners in the world get stress injuries or overtraining syndrome.

Still, it's not unique to running, it happens with any sport at high levels and anyone who says that running is bad for your knees probably messed up there knees by being a fat piece of shit and never exercising. It’s about as brainlet a take as saying lifting weights is bad for your muscles because you might tear one.

I would agree with you but imagine knowing how long a mile is, fucking burgers dude 😂😂😂

Ikr. Why call it a 5k if you're then going to discuss the thing in miles. I can't. But I have to follow the miles discussion because a lot of the stuff I read on running is American.

A 5k is a little over 3 miles

8+8+8 = 24 which is slow for a highschool cross country time even for girls

I hadn’t run in a year and did a mile last week. Ran 7:49 lol

Gatekeeping is a good thing. CMV

It's not really gatekeeping whatsoever. A heathly man or woman should be able to run an 8 minute mile if they have no other disability.

8 minute miles are elementary school times

A single mile in 8 mins is pathetically easy. I do a ten miler every Saturday at about 8:20 per mile and I'm a 230 lb hunk of beef.

When I worked in a corporate office, I heard countless people congratulating themselves for running 10 miles over the weekend in 2 hours or finishing a 5k in 35 minutes. These people had no business running more than 1 mile, let alone 10.

It's not only fatties who are triggered 😤

Look, this point of view is valid. Explain why should others reap the benefits of working out when others cannot? It's just not fair.

Not everyone has the ability to lose weight or look healthy, take your day shaming and phobias elsewhere. There's also zero proof being overweight has a negative effect on health, lifespan or attractiveness.

HealthyAtAnyWeight

Lol

Same tbh. 😤

the guy couldn't be more matter-of-fact and he gives good advice.

The article is just garbage.

Every human should be able to run a mile in 8 minutes with proper form, and as a coach, this is my requirement for clients to progress in mileage.

So if this guy coaches you, you have to run one mile or less until you meet his arbitrary standard on speed. Anyone with half a brain and a bit of running experience can tell you that a lot of bodily adaptions to running do not happen if you work on running a short distance with a - for a beginner - relatively high speed. Adapting your muscles, your bones and your cartilage is one thing, adapting the cardiovascular system is another. Exercising for 10 minutes or so will not do much for endurance.

And now this gem:

Beginners should start with shorter distance sprints, anywhere from 50-200 yards. Once you are better conditioned, incorporate longer distances like quarter-mile sprints.

The final progression would be half-mile and mile interval sprints; however, these are reserved for more advanced runners. Sprints should be treated like plyometric exercises. Recover fully between sprint sets and every sprint should be a maximum effort with excellent form.

Once you have built a decent base through strength development and speed work, you can start to expand the mileage. Increase your mileage as long as it falls around the 8 minute per mile rule.

Sprinting for 50 or 100 yards is an anaerobic exercise. Interval sprints are a high-intensity exercise that place a much higher burden on your burden than a slow, long jog. Take a look at how Usain Bolt looks and another look at a long distance runner. Notice any difference? Of course you do. And why do they look different? Because they do not train in the same way and with the same techniques or results.

You do not need to run fast to be a good runner. If anything, most amateur runners run too fast for their own good. And now I want my bot post telling me that I should talk less.

The sêêthing is coming from inside the drama 😱😨😱

Reminder that fatties are less human than gypsies and twitter users.

Interval work is one of the core pillars in running, especially distance, for all the reasons he's saying.

If fatties put as much work into moving around as they do making excuses they wouldn't be fatfats.

I am not saying that interval running is bad as such. I am saying that his focus on short distance sprints is a bad idea if your target group is people with little to no endurance or running experience.

He's not wrong. The whole idea is to get the person to push the person to their target heart rate zone and keep them in there over several reps. Sprint walk sprint walk several times is great for runners starting out.

It depends on what he is actually doing and what he means by "sprint". In general, interval training is meant to work on the threshold between aerobic and anaerobic exercise. This is useful for increasing your speed. It is far less useful for working on your basic conditioning. In essence, the article picks something that is part of running and turns it into a mantra. If the guy gets people to train that would otherwise be sitting on a couch, good for them and him. But if you want to be a good long distance runner, his method sounds deeply flawed and actually likely to cause frustration and injury. But who am I to tell? Go ahead and tell a couch potatoe to do short interval sprints over and over again and see how it works out.

Why do you dorks always do this shit? Some guy gives general advice, using simple terms, to guide beginners without overwhelming them and some 'uh sorry no' jerkoff like you comes in trying to poke technical holes in everything.

'Calories in calories out'

'Um, not all calories are absorbed the same, wrongo.'

'Dont just jog around, do some mid-run sprints to build speed and endurance.'

'Um, it depends on what you mean by sprint and whether you're pursuing the 100m or the 5000.'

The guy did give very specific and rather stupid advice. If you tell untrained people to focus on sprints, they will (a) put unnecessary stress on their body and (b) get disappointed real fast since they suck. Start out slow, but try to get a bit better every day. Honestly, the cookie cutter c25k advice is better than what this coach is peddling.

'Aim for 8 minute miles with good form' and 'do some hard effort intervals between 50-200 yards' is not specific or dumb for beginners.

You're obnoxious, go on a 15 miler about it you wankfest

Believe whatever you want.

Look, fat, just go for nature walks and hikes, it'll do you some good and it's low impact

That is a good advice for almost everyone. Thank you for your kind words.

Reminder that the fastest person of all time has never even run the mile and his trainer says if he did it he wouldn't be able to go under 5 minutes which is a time even high schoolers run every year

Also 8 minutes for a mile? Even skinny people who don't work out at all can do that, I've seen it myself.

Sprinters are freaks. Talented freaks, sure, but humans are not built for sprinting.

Why bother, when even Usain Bolt, who is a freak among freaks, isn’t outrunning an angry big cat. But over long distances, humans are the fastest animals on earth.

Horses have ran marathons in 1 hour 20 min

Saying that humans are the best because they last longer than a hippo is like saying humans are the strongest because they can beat a racoon

I've looked at 24 hour records before and humans get crushed by sled dogs too.

Humans may be the best endurance runners in hot climates (can't verify), but definitely not in cold climates. And as you've said, the myth that humans beat horses over a marathon is just a myth.

That was his point. It is a basic criteria to begin to add volume. Are you illiterate?
