My theory is that with Sailor Moon parodies being a fixture on internet hentai sites, the sub is a a byproduct of post nut clarity.

The cartoon character being railed by an octopus is still fresh in their minds when it's time to start smugposting.

I'm not sure why but Sailor Moon has exploded in the last few years, so it was only a matter of time before the characters were used for something ever more r-slurred than anime.

Old-time weeb here. I watched Sailor Moon back in the 1990s. A few years ago a remake of Sailor Moon came out, Sailor Moon Crystal. Only saw the first few episodes, but kinda loved it.

I now have a young niece. So, for the past few years I've been buying her all of Sailor Moon on DVD for birthdays and Christmas. She now has the entire classic series, loves it. Gonna start getting her Crystal on Bluray this Christmas.

In short: First generation Sailor Moon fans got reminded of its existence in time to ruin share with another generation.
