I've honestly never understood the appeal of Twitter either. First time I saw it way back in '08 or so, my immediate reaction was that it just looked like a Facebook status update that ripped off IRC chat's hashtag feature and slapped an arbitrary character limit on it. Why anyone would want this is beyond me but here we are.
