Holy shit. They banned ChapoTrapHouse as well. It happened at almost 10 AM San Francisco time. The admins must have signed on to work, did a Zoom stand up meeting, spez wrote up his Update To Our Content Policy post, and then they pulled the trigger.

It's insane. I don't know what the formula is. KotakuInAction is still alive, PoliticalCompassMemes is still alive, fucking weekendgunnit is still alive. I love weekendgunnit, but seeing as their sub is a public never-ending LARP fantasy about literally blowing up members of the ATF using tannerite, I'm thoroughly confused about how they survived and fucking ChapoTrapHouse got the hammer. I genuinely thought they'd all get banned before the admins even noticed who we were.

I have to wonder how we even got on the list. I imagine the board members sitting there in a Zoom meeting while they're trying to come up with 2000 subs they're trying to ban. They reach 1950, but spez isn't satisfied; they need to hit the big 2 Gs to really make a statement. The board members sit there, frustrated. They genuinely just want to sign off and spend some time with their kids.

I want to thoroughly apologize for reiterating, over and over, that we'd be fine, that there are way worse subreddits active on Reddit, that the admins are probably fine with our edgy jokes so long as we stay private and insular. I was clearly wrong and I shouldn't have said that to you guys. I should've been more concerned. I should've done a full back up of the sub's top 25k posts. I never knew we were this active on their radars. I'm so sorry.

I'm going to chat with merkle-root on what the next step is. Previously, I would've said that we should just move to a new subreddit and reform our behavior. That it would suck to stay on Reddit, but if we have any hope of having a thoroughly active forum, it would have to be on Reddit, because the number of people who would sign up for an offsite forum is so pitifully low that it's not worth the effort. But they got ChapoFuckingTrapHouse. The website cannot be trusted no matter how good our behavior is. We have to find somewhere else to go. I think a good proportion of our active users were only on Reddit for this sub anyways, so we might have a pretty high conversion rate. I still have the full list of approved users, I'll try to write a bot to tell them to come here. But what we really need to do is pick on one place that serves as our Schelling point, if we splinter off into a hundred different places, none of them will work.

I'm pretty sure that the admins are watching where we migrate. Although our posts are removed, (I think) they have us tagged somehow and can coordinate which subs to watch next. This is the same with Ch*pos. Just a couple of the other people from cumtown posting on this subreddit is probably going to show the admins that this subreddit is problematic and they'll have it under a magnifying glass.

I can probably use this to my advantage and start posting in subs I hate with really skewed comments that are in a gray area of rule breaking.
