And what's Spicer going to say, "Oh yeah, it's all legit!" First of all, he's not even one of the 10, and you can tell Trump wouldn't let him in on it. And second of all, if he did say that, it would just make tons of people bombard him with more questions about it, which he really knows nothing about. If I was among the Taco folk I would be mighty annoyed that Mayonnaise children were trying to defile my beautiful romance language just so they can skip over the conjugation section of their spanish class.
It's gained traction in some more woke Chicana circles. I hear it from a couple of people I interact with, but it's pretty polarizing. I'd probably never hear it in my neighborhood, which is mostly spanish-speaking.
Will Shortz’s “apology” is the epitome of white privilege. He claimed that he had never heard of beaner being used as a slur and then proceeds to explain why he’s right and other people are wrong. He doesn’t even really apologize for using beaner in the crossword puzzle, he says “for any solver who was offended... I apologize,” which is just “I’m sorry you were offended” in different words.
Why does every sports subreddit have to be this gay. You can’t tell me this guy is representative of the average baseball fan

i like how he spent a whole paragraph on how its cool if beaaners get to call people kikees but oh lordy this white man used a baseball term in a cross puzzle! clearly its white privilege!
Because it's on reddit. The only subs not infested with this shit are the small niche ones. But I was still surprised to see SRDine levels of smugness in baseball.
Because actual sports fans are boomers who haven’t found this app or people who have been banned from places like r/NFL for commenting on a Collin Kaepernick post
Mexican nicknames are weird. Like my 1st name is Peter but all the Mexicans I know call me punta because they said that's the Spanish nickname for my name

I live in Houston and was particularly adopted by an old Mexican couple. Never once heard of Latinx outside of the internet.

This is the first I'm hearing that "beaner" is discouraged in the context of baseball.

Yeah same but I played baseball with a bunch of Mexicans growing up, probably a little different than playing little league in Connecticut
