League of Legends is an infamous video game where younglings get to fight other players, including by verbally abusing their teammates. One of the 148 playable characters is a bipedal ursine named Volibear, and with a modest contribution to the chinese firm Tencent, g*mers can modify the appearence of the character into a police cap'n.; that's the fellow on the left. That cosmetic was released in late 2014.

Now, you might know some nothingdoers get paid to play League of Legends; and these days they tend to play Volibear a lot since he's strong. Turns out, they tend to use that police cosmetic for some nonsensical reason about audio clues and it being overall good-looking.

Such a prime opportunity to apply cancel culture couldn't be missed by a woman nicknamed "Mae", who's assigned to a team of professional players as their "Operations Manager" (that means bringing them energy drinks). She's made her twitter private since yesterday, but thankfully other cancel-culture enthusiasts made sure to screencap the murder weapon

It all unfolded fairly quickly, so it's hard to find more juicy bits, but still have the appetizer of a player explaining to Mae why the cosmetic is preferred by players. Indeed, those that commited the crime of playing a police bear, fearing to be "cancelled", had to defend themselves valiantly on Twitter against the assaults of the manager, who doubled down on her statement and refused to back down.

This mess eventually finds its way to Reddit, creating a fairly thick thread of over 3k comments, a lot even by the standards of the fairly popular subreddit.

Sorted by controversial much like god intended, but sorting by Top can also highlight how 🤢 g*mers are, as we know well, contamined by rampant white supremacist.

Mrs. Mae, while making her Twitter private, also removed mentions of the company (C9) in her bio, letting people guess she had been fired, but many expectations find themselves subverted.

If there's one link of this nonsense you gotta get, it's this one ^ - The comments/replies, are, of course, where the drama lies, if you exclude the tear-jerking g*mers accused of racism turning the other cheek.

A few gamers thoughtfully pointed out that they qualify much more than police-bear to be displays of police brutality - Vi being able to quite literally use "Assault and Battery", in-game text quote, and Caitlyn using a rifle (bless the 2nd amendment)
