People with poor budgeting skills whine over not being able to screw a company over and not receiving their pocket jewelry that they will literally never use

So the knife collector community is a very snobby bunch. Sadly I am a part of it myself but I also realize a piece of steel that costs very little that is attached to plastic that costs even less isn't worth $300 but hey it's m390 steel with a g10 handle ( don't ask ) so it stays sharp about 15 slices longer than the other less desirable steels.

Well Benchmade is a very well know company in the knife collector community. They are good for real use but imo are very overpriced and a lot of people call buying one "paying the butterfly tax" (their logo is a butterfly ) .

Well there is a sub that is only knife specials like sales and good deals. r/knifedeals

So 4 days ago someone posted a special coupon code for their website where you could order a knife from them for literally a 3rd of the price they retail for.

Link 1

If you read through the comments everyone knew it was a dealers only code and had absolutely no hope of it working but it did and 1000s used it and put in orders

Well the next day Benchmade discovered the leaked code was being used and cancelled every order that was made. Everyone who used it and ordered the overpriced man jewelry knew it was going to happen but by God it didn't stop the absolutely flood of seething and tears and declarations of boycotts and conspiracies of it being a secret marketing strategy to get more customer ( you know the ol' get more customers by pissing off the niche community strategy) . They tried every possible angle of them trying to justify that they were in the right and that Benchmade should honor their orders because hey someone fucked up and let that code out.

Link 2

The audacity of them to take 12 hours to send a mass email out explaining why you couldn't rip them off ...

So people are still seething and crying about it 4 days later despite the fact of a few voices of reason trying to explain to them that everyone knew that the order wouldn't be honored . The seething continues still

Isn’t Benchmade the company that was pro gun control or some shit? Just buy a Gerber.

Friendly reminder that guns are the rightoid Funko Pops

You haven't lived until you sit and listen to 2 old men argue over why this 1936 1911 is more collectible due to them having to use different machining for 3 months than the same 1936 1911 that was made 1 month prior.

A police department thanked them in a FB post for using their equipment to cut up 3 guns that were crime scene evidence. Like an old single shot shotgun and the like. Most likely used in suicides . So the gun nuts went crazy saying they were antigun for destroying something no one would want.

Next time on the Hydraulic Press Channel: Grandpa's old 12 gauge that hebused to paint the walls with his brain!

Exactly

Lmao

They posted that they were proud to help with the destruction of the guns, not the police department if I recall correctly.

I find it funny that either way you're buying from Oregon.

Yeah I was briefly into knife collecting as well. But then one day I realized that I only ever carry my Kershaw Shallot, because it does literally everything I expect it to do, at a price I can actually afford to lose, and I haven't bought or carried anything else since.

How in the fuck are Benchmade butterflies going for $650 now? Has the hobby gotten even more retarded since I left? I paid like $80 for a Bradley Kimura almost a decade ago, and even that felt extravagant for a knife I only flip and never carry (NC knife laws are vague and pretty gay about balisongs and automatics).

No clue man there's knives that look like flea market garbage that the community praises and cost $1200. It's become extremely snobby with people laughing at someone spending $100 on a knife like they're poorcels. I agree with you on the shallot ( own 2 myself ) and the logic of if you lose it you won't go apeshit. If you used to be into you should browse some of the subs dedicated to the hobby and be amazed at the absolute tacky trash that's praised and sought after. Here is an example of some of the stuff I'm talking about. I've seen "custom" ones go for about $350.

Yeah that's some tacticool mall ninja shit. What the hell is that supposed to be? It's like a tanto with Down Syndrome.

That's a $150 box cutter man. A literal box cutter .

Shit, maybe PHC should do a line of Damascus safety cutters. It might actually sell.

That brand I showed isn't even a knife brand mainly. They just saw the autism happening and jumped on the bandwagon.

They should stick to flashlights.

Hell I collect those too... Olight flash sale coming up Monday. Now flashlights I use multiple times a day more so than a knife. I use a multitool more too.

Bless your poor wife lmao

I make up for it with my monster dong

Hell I collect those too... Olight flash sale coming up Monday. Now flashlights I use multiple times a day more so than a knife. I use a multitool more too. Nitecore to me is mainly battery chargers

Holy boomer, just use the led on your phone lmao πŸ’…

I need to use the $200 12000 lumen flashlight to check on the guests I have in the barn. Some wimpy 15 lumen phone light isn't going to flood the area up to 500 meters if one of them decided to go for a walk.

I bought a Swiss Army Knife for $30 and the top three most useful tools have been the pen, bottle opener, and blade in that order. What's the point of a $1k blade?

Pocket jewelry you can show off to people that 99.999% won't understand why it's so special .

they're basically sharp funko pops

Nerds with coding money got into it and ruined everything. Kershaws are great though, i carried a leek for like 5 years. People shit on the chinese steel they use but you can get it shaving sharp in like 2 minutes so i prefer it to the high end stuff which takes fucking forever

I've got like 6 m390 steel knives and you might as well be sharpening a diamond . As for the leek I gave those out as Christmas present to all my in-laws about 8 years ago. I still recommend those over most others due to the simple utility of them .

Good man. Did you get the iridescent rainbow handles for the ladies?

Nope but my wife has those in both a scallion and a leek that I bought her just cause I was retarded and wanted her to try to get into it too

Besides cut and stab, what else do you expect a knife to do?

Exactly.

Yeah I remember like 10 years ago I bought a Benchmade mini griptillian I think, it was $50, ow I don't think banchmade sells anything under $100 and I still have that knife and it's still holding up just fine.

My dad also has a bunch of knives, Benchmade and microtech and all manner of expensive automatic blades but I don't think he's bought a Benchmade in a long time.

I carry mainly my minigrip or a little Spyderco delica wave most of the time. I own a shit ton of knives and still go with those 2 .

The only people who collected knives that I knew of were weirdos obsessed with serial killers or military history.

I have a switchblade comb because it makes all the ladies 🌊🌊🌊🌊

Hell I got hard just from reading this

What is the function of these knives? Are they the cooking type, carving type, the stabbing type?

They're the type you use to flex on other knife collectors with less money.

You're not supposed to use them, they're funko pops for """"manly"""" men

I've been to exactly one knife show and that's just because it was 45 minutes away and let me tell ya the vast majority there weren't manly men.

I've been to exactly one knife show and that's just because it was 45 minutes away

Do you find your home life so unbearable you find any excuse you can think of to not be there?

Nah if it gets too bad I just text your dad and go meet up and blast his bussy a few hours . Idk how you got that from me saying I went to a convention but ok I guess since this is drama we all are ret ards but in your case it's way more than most.

Good, let it all out, we are all friends here

They might be your friends here but to me most of them are lovers or soon to be lovers

Recommand a knife or sword πŸ—‘ for dramatards

If you go to the US blade show, try to grab me one of thoses : https://www.philippejourgetknives.com/product/fif23-by-ckf

20 will be on sale apparently (400-500$)

I've never really been interested in going to blade show but I did go to shotshow in 2019 and it was exhausting . I bet we walked 15 miles a day.

My knife cost like $40 and has lasted me 5 years with no issues. Why would you spend 300 on it.

Because I have the money

I have money too. I just choose not to use it on pointless consumerism and "luxury" goods.

If you can piss money away you should be. You only get one go at life and you cant take it with you

[removed]

Oh boy this expensive knife will make me feel so great because consumerism is the only thing I have left.

Yep

My knife from China cost $8 3 years ago. How does it feel to get fucked out of $40 by a company😎

Shit. I've been had.

Post 8$ knife

Incoming mtech

Z-Hunter represent!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody Nick here and I just want to tell the knife community that every single one of you are weeeellllll shitty people

Kitchen knives are the only useful knives worth spending on. For everything else there's cheap box cutters.

Oh man you are clearly being way too nice about the knife community. There's an episode where a knife maker claimed that his knife failed a test because they were "defective knives" stolen from his shop and that he left a secret notch on them. Same guy claimed he was some sort of weapons genius prodigy. And people eat that shit up to the point that his knives go for thousands of dollars despite the materials costing $15 dollars tops.

There was the knife maker who was accused of stolen valor and was a convicted felon. He lasted a long time as a knife maker.

Countless snake oil salesmen who has a secret proprietary invincible steel whose edge retention would last two lifetimes and knives are tougher than 10 Chris Kyles. (Just don't abuse the knife, it voids the warranty.)

Oh and as bad as Benchmade prices their knives, check out Rockstead out of Japan. This is why people are upset about unrestrained capitalism.

The knife hobby is 100% filled with more money than sense. Now excuse me, I have a Spyderco Mule Team I have to show off.

Eh it was late and I had already written an autistically longpost but yeah it's filled with a lot of drama.

As bad as knife dudes are, gun dudes are way worse.

Oh trust me I know

knife collector community

There's no limit to moids and their autism

why is every "hobby" community like this
