UK treats a Japanese citizen like a Japanese citizen. Why is this problematic? Twitter explains

This isn't even uk's fault, japan doesn't allow duel citizenship, also why the hell would anyone want to be British?

That small detail hasn't stopped her:

the playing field is just so so so stacked against anyone who isn’t white or is working class

The working class has literally no power or status within the UK, this is some rich girl blaming peasants for something another nation did.

If that isn't a galaxy brained take then what is?

Galaxy brain take: a society can be reflected by the most basic of infastructure, manhole covers.

The UK is one of the few countries on this planet to use square manhole covers.

They can literally fall back into the fucking hole if you don't provide some top notch cheeky banter to it and bless the queen and sacrifice a proper buttered biscuit and a tin of kippers.

Even shit hole counties don't subject themselves to such self inflicted posh stupidity for aesthetic reasons. They use circular manhole covers because any other shape would be fucking arrogantly stupid.

Only the British are capable of such self loathing of course they blame the poor people who couldn't ever have anything to do with any decisions made because otherwise they might have to reflect on why their dumb country is the way it is.

The UK also tried to make planes with square 'windows' and they fell apart mid-flight lmao. They always have to be different to everyone else, even to their detriment, they are so insecure it's cute.

If you believe that, wait until you find out about the French.

The French at least have an aesthetic. They at least have that going for them.

I was unaware that being pretentious and self consciously contrarian was enough to count as an aesthetic.

Vent

Name one thing that makes British 'people' notable or in any way memorable

baked beans for breakfast

...do you know what sub you’re on?

The French don't even have sentience.

I mean it is well understood that elitism doesn't work, and does nothing except prevent actually capable people from rising to the top, but the Brits figured out the solution to that ages ago.

You go colonize another continent, go all 'for queen and country,' but never actually go back, ever.

Pretty sure you read it wrong, plus she worded it a little oddly.

anyone who isn’t white or is working class

She's saying it's stacked against all non-whites + the working class (including whites). I think.

It is hardly clear, but I probably did.

Doesn't really change anything for her though, as she's definitely not working class, and as she is not a gypsy or Irish isn't very likely to face prejudice.

Only place she'd find adversity is dealing with old money elites.

Posh people get acting/TV jobs because nobody wants to hear the rarted gutteral orcish of a northern monkey on the tellybox old chum

Also what a shit take. All those Polaks, Romanians, Lithuanians, etc are not living it up in the UK because they are “white”. They would probably get more hate from the British then her

Bitch can stay in Japan then where there's 0.1% white people. Did she forget Asians are the majority in the world?

I was with them till the last bit.

Isn't the whole point of being working class to have the field stacked against you? Why else would anyone choose to be WC?

She said that? Or us it in the vice Story?

Did you misread the quote? She said the playing field is stacked against anyone that ISN’T white or IS working class. I missed the “is” the first time at first

Rather be a filthy bong than a weeb tbh

The food THE. FOOD.

Hello everyone, it's me, the Bong Defence Force!

This weirdo has ILR status -- indefinite leave to remain, a semi-permanent form of visa that means as long as you don't leave the country for two years, you can stay indefinitely.

The bizarre part about this is that status already qualifies her for British citizenship. She's been on ILR for over twelve months and lived in the UK for more than five years, so as far as I can tell she qualifies -- not like she doesn't easily have the money, either.

ILR is even a fast track. She doesn't have to take any knowledge or language tests for citizenship.

This entire drama is over a femoid that could have become a citizen at any time complaining that she can't get the bigger UK music awards because she doesn't have citizenship.

What about Japan?

Rina says she considers herself fully British and was raised here since 5 -- no idea why she would continue to hold Japanese citizenship over British if she really feels that way. Not sure why it isn't the obvious practical choice to become a British citizen. Twittercels say that isn't 'the point' however.

Isn't this an agenda post?

No, because no one here actually cares about UK immigration law, not even me. Therefore it cannot be an agenda. Fact.

I remember in a BBC post-Brexit "what the fuck happened" article, this Polish woman was crying about how it wasn't fair that she couldn't vote in the election despite not being a citizen. What fucking planet do these people live on where you get to reap benefits of citizenship without committing 100%?

What fucking planet do these people live on where you get to reap benefits of citizenship without committing 100%?

They live on planet European Union.

Please send help it's very stupid here.

Burger here, and we deal with the same bullshit regarding illegal immigrants and healthcare, welfare, social security, college, etc. Apparently people believe that western nations should just be a smorgasbord for anybody, whereas their nations should remain free and pristine.

This has been one of the strangest things I've witnessed over the last couple of decades - the leftward movement towards hyper capitalism.

Basically it's like this - part of the benefit you get for belonging to a nation, or more accurately trade as you trade some of your rights for this, is not just your right to your own labor, but your labor right to access the nations market. Since Clinton signed NAFTA in the 90's almost every left wing government in the US and Europe has been trying to strip this right from the working class.

To put it in layman terms - giving other people access to your labor market devalues the price of that labor (basic principles of supply and demand). The only people who profit from this are the capitalists who have access to cheaper labor and potentially consumers who will have access to cheaper goods (although cost savings are usually eaten up by inflation and profit taking and seldom passed on to consumers).

Open Borders is basically an AnCap position, yet it's being pitched to dumb ass left wing kids as anti-racism. Well, maybe that's not fair - they might not be totally stupid, they might just be aware of their class privilege, which is kind of even more disgusting because they talk about concern for the poor and working class out of one side of their mouth while supporting policies they know actively hurt those people and benefit themselves.

Should have learned to code

The elites are the real AnCaps, lolberts are the rightoid useful idiot

WTF an informed opinion on arr slash drama OUUUUU

The funniest people are the ones that want national universal healthcare and open borders. You literally can’t have both it’s an oxymoron

You can have them both, for a few years at least.

Sorry bongs, but by allowing a frog to write this, you've violated the NAP.

Nice username : l

Hey man, you too can have a nervous breakdown at work, quit your job, sell all your shit and then move to another coast. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

Sounds like an intruiging proposal however.

another coast.

Oceans are overrated tbh

Don't let your dreams be dreams.

I'm from south Jersey so the only thing i want to see before i die is a hill.

What fucking planet do these people live on where you get to reap benefits of citizenship without committing 100%?

Counterpoint: Getting a British citizenship is basically just pissing away £1200 solely for an ability to tick a box every five years.

It's quite stupid that you can stay resident in the UK for 20 years and be treated as a de facto citizen in every regard EXCEPT voting rights, while some Indian immigrant can pretty much just turn up fresh off the boat and vote.

What world do you live in where Indian immigrants get citizenship the moment they get to UK? And those that do have to surrender their Indian citizenship first, we don't allow dual citizenship either.

They don't get a citizenship, but as members of the Commonwealth they can vote pretty much straight away as long as they have a registered place of residence.

Lol Anglos are unironically retarded. And here I thought only commonwealth stuff that mattered anymore was the games.

no idea why she would continue to hold Japanese citizenship over British if she really feels that way.

My uneducated guess is tax reasons.

tax reasons

Release the Rina tax returns! Bongs have a right to know!

The only Bong with rights is the Queen, the rest are just there on her sufferance

Based and monarchpilled

Because the Japs are weird.

This one girl I used to plow said as she was leaving Jaypan, her aunts essentially told her that she's not REAL Japanese for spending half her life overseas.

Or taxes.

You had sex with a real anime girl?

They don't ejaculate milk from the nipples from orgasming. Anime lied to you.

no idea why she would continue to hold Japanese citizenship over British if she really feels that way

Japan has a rule where if you gain citizenship to another country, you automatically give up your citizenship in Japan. According to her, she doesn't want to give up her Japanese citizenship because some of her family lives there and it would be like cutting ties to them.

This is actually a very good rule and I wish other countries like the USA, UK and Israel adopted it

Maybe I'm just a rtarted mutt but I think the US also prohibits dual citizenship

Yep, but the US doesn't actively enforce the dual citizenship rules and does not require naturalized citizens to relinquish citizenship in their country of origin

You idiots are admitting hong kongers now too aren't you? Like 3m or something?

Hey, those Hong Kongers are hard workers -- we're getting them quick before the Chinese can.

yeah shake up the darkie monopoly of low wage jobs

taking refugees from communism is honorable.

Hong Kongers are great, if the government insists on importing millions of foreigners we could do far worse.

I agree, they're the jews of asia

Japanese passports are accepted visa free in more countries than any other nations, not saying that why but I'm sure it didn't hurt to have

Imagine being a Japanese citizen and living in the UK and acting like the UK is xenophobic, and totally just skating past the fact that japan is one of the most xenophobic places on earth. I live in japan, they don’t give a fuck about anyone or anything that isn’t Japanese. Trying making a “muh diversity“ argument in japan, literally no one gives a fuck.

Took a Japan vacation once and took the slow train to a small town outside of Mt Fuji. Walked by an older gentleman who made a tut sound and spit on the ground as I walked by.

I'll never forget him, based Japanese grandpa

How's the pussy over there?

Sideways

Stole my joke, god damnit.

All over and free for harvest for gaijin. Sometimes attached to crazy bitches who just want to bang you cause you’re “exotic”

Hyundai Mercury Prize

Really getting their money's worth from the sponsorship just from the jjokbari tears. She has a point about the bands though.

Chavcels rejoice.

Why would anyone complain about not being British

Lmao i got temp banned from r/popheads for saying that a japanese national with 0 British heritage isn’t british

J-Pop was a mistake.

She's a lock to win now.

I don’t give a fuck about any of this, but that album is my AotY so far.
