Libya was one of the wealthiest countries in Africa under Gaddafi. It was the top county in terms of the Human Development Index (HDI) in Africa in 2011. There was gender equality, a comprehensive system of welfare that redistributed the country's oil wealth among all of its citizens. All this in a country that was once impoverished and almost totally illiterate.
And then America destroyed it all out of spite, cruelty and greed.
Someone pointed out that it was mostly a french and british operation and that the US was mostly there to support it's allies, and some absolute retard unironically argued "The US controls the UK so they made us do it anyways even if we didn't want to". God why are europeans so fucking pathetic

Libya was objectively better under Qaddafi. I don't really care about the statistics. That part of the world with all those inter/intra-religious conflicts basically necessitates tyranny to rule. Now it's just a power vacuum with competing warlords and a live slave trade. Even Obama said it was his biggest mistake.

It is possible with countries like Russia or China where there is a dominant stock and minorities are irrelevant enough to be placated with gibs. Otherwise though democracy is unironically a better idea, its way less efficient and maddeningly corrupt but it allows tensions to vent and issues to be resolved in a mutually unsatisfactory fashion. Plus psychological effect of knowing you do have some power over government is formidable.

That video is actually the best propaganda for anti-migrant people here in Europe. Firstly it shows that the majority of the people coming over are men in their 20s and secondly that they are coming from countries with no wars, aka the main focus on the video was Moroccans, so they are not actually refugees.

One of my grandparents was involved in one, he didn't leave his family behind because the men of the house are literally the only security you have in an unstable period. If the young men leave the women will be raped and whatever they have looted in a heartbeat. This is the case in even refugee camps. Leaving behind your family already means there is no imminent danger to them or you don't give a shit about them in the first place.
