Even as a r!gkt0!d, how could I deny my fellow dramatards of spicy exchanges found on th£donald.win, who as it turns out, are not immune to the c0pe that such a phrase provides (see title).

It all started with a (not so) innocuous comment:

Yep, partisan hacks. They could care less about the constitution

After being corrected, and 97 downvotes later, he went on to say "I’m good, I like the way it’s wrote. Thanks though" to which someone simply and humorously replied "Written".

Another correction summoned further consternation from the OP, who replied with: "The way I described it is fine. Everyone gets the point. Don’t be such a leftist."

In turn, someone else replied:

The way you said it was incorrect, even if lots of other people do the same. Don’t be a defensive snowflake. Understand the merits of the point being made (which is absolutely grammatically correct in this case) and embrace them.

To which he replied: "I appreciate your response. Thanks. I would die for my country tomorrow. So don’t call me a snowflake." and later on: "If you want to continue harassing me, be my guest".

I wonder how many of you would recoil in response to that phrase being uttered. I have my suspicions it's a non-zero number.

Nope it doesn't even work as sarcastic since that would be "wow, I care so much".

"I could care less" means I care somewhat and so we're effectively saying that it's SOMEWHAT important to me. By its nature, sarcasm has to mean the opposite of what you intend to mean. By going for the middleground with what essentially means "somewhat interested", the sarcastic effect is nullified.

NB: Can't believe I literally copied my own comment reply from a guy on TD who made the same "it's just sarcastic" argument as you.
