people just speedrun games they like, theres a few games you could argue have little or no rng, but pretty much every game thats popular to speedrun is gonna have more than a bit of rng. halo, for example, has a ton of rng, so the strats are mostly to go for the most chancey shit and keep doing it until it works because eventually it will.
Yeah but there's a difference between Halo's AI difference + weapon spray vs Minecraft's massive world gen and loot drop rate variances. At some point you might as well speedrun Mario Party.
