Funny story about Jerry, a friend of mine knew him back when he was really on the heron. Apparently the band would search his room on a regular basis and confiscate ounces of H from him to try and stop him from freakin killing himself.

Speaking of which, I learned reading Phil Lesh’s book that Pig Pen and Janice Joplin were madly in love and after she passed Pig Pen wasted away as a hopeless alcoholic. He never recovered and died two years later 😥
