As a Yuropoor, that's what I liked about him: he barely did anything noteworthy at all. No destabilisation of Lybia and Syria, no massive invasion of Iraq or Afghanistan, no humiliating dismantling of Russia,... Just some bombs on Yemen and some angry tweets.
I totally get it. The foreign policy actions of the US have been bad, not only for the places they have been involved in but also for Europe and pretty much the rest of the world. Personally I think a man like Bernie Sanders could have been better. He at least wasn't pretending to be something he is not, whereas trump was.
The scary thing is how fragile the social fabric of the US is. It is one of the most powerful nations in the world, and this just revealed how much poor leadership there is at the top.
Which makes sense. In fact these 4 years should be a wake up call for the entire world for the US; their Allies; and their Enemies. However, what I have seen is that their is poor leadership that is pervasive world wide, particularly and most importantly in some of the most developed nations of the world, which are pretty much all US allies. Including Canada and Europe.

I would watch some of those segments and it would be like "what's your tax plan?" "It's the best. It will be great." Like seriously if the media just followed up with what will be great; what do you plan to do; and brought in someone that knows about tax law it would be a slam dunk showing what a buffoon he is. Even then though he had his cult and the GOP in his pocket so I don't think it would make that much of a difference but still they should do their job.
In a hyperpolarized climate where one side of the spectrum outright rejects entire fields of study on the basis they say conservatives are wrong, fact-checking doesn't actually do anything.
People are going to believe what they believe, and make up the reasons as they go along.
I see the world as very gray. Like I myself like aspects of liberal policy, but conservative policy too. For me the issue is leadership and I do think evidence based research has a purpose. For example Fauci, people should have been listening to him and various health care experts to mitigate covid. At the same time not everything can be explained. Not everything is black or white. It is usually gray.
Your last point is very correct. I find people like that though are usually ignorant and also arrogant. The two go hand in hand.
