I hate Dave Ramsey so much after watching my friend and her husband do it. Now they are binge purchasing after getting out of debt, so I'm sure they will be back in debt. Dave Ramsey is like the fad diet of financing. You restrict yourself down to $100/month spending money and do nothing fun, and once you finally get to your goal, you binge purchase on random shit because hey now you have extra spending money. Just save up for shit and wait to buy shit when you have the money for it, jeeez.
He'd also smack them for binge purchasing. Dave is kind of an asshole, but he speaks sense mostly. For some reason people can't look at their own finances and see the sense so he makes millions by making fun of their dumbass purchases.
In lieu of finding out whether you can handle a CC, maybe don't get one at all. Eventually, no one will have them and VISA and Mastercard will have to lobby congress to allow them to break into our homes and take stuff.
I don't have one because I've discovered I'm absolute dogshit about paying bills. I've got the money, but what I don't have is the fiscal responsibility to actually pay the damn things. If I hadn't had the pleasure of fucking up my credit for eternity, I might have died thinking I'm in some way responsible!
I mean, how did you pay bills before you got a credit card? I didn't get one until I was 24. I don't see the sense in telling everyone to completely abandon credit cards when they can be used responsibly for rewards programs and the capacity to cancel charges, something you cannot do with a debit card.
Sure, they can be. You don't know if you're R-slurred like me though till you get one and proceed to not pay on it. I've only had one, and got it at 17 through my university's credit union. I had an impressive $500 limit.
My wife is incredibly responsible and games her CC for the rewards very well. I just don't have that discipline. I don't think that no should ever have a card, but I DO think that if you don't have one currently you probably shouldn't start.
yeah, I read that. Generally speaking, I think working for small solo owners is only good for building your career and never staying long. I know people say big businesses are shitty, but overall I think the working environment is better and there is more of a level playing field. But this is coming from someone who hated the 9-5 and left it 5 years ago to build my own little empire. 8-)
Dramsey is my favorite evangelical grifter, he's like the monstrous lovechild of Marc Benioff and Oral Roberts. This article about the culture in his office is a hilarious read if you like eccentric corporate narcissism.

They hate him because he speaks the truth.

He's right in a way. If $600 makes any difference in your life, you're fucked.
But it's America in 2021, just about everyone is fucked.

The guy thinks that everyone should avoid credit cards, not just people who can't maintain financial discipline.

It's not difficult to know if you can handle a credit card before getting one.

Sounds like they quit the program after baby step 2.
Don't blame my homie Dave for that.

He really just needs to tell people to stop being poor.

Why do people need to pay for a program to tell them not to buy frivolous shit and avoid credit card debt?

I was just reading about this guy the other day, he runs his company like Pyeongyang too.

Holy shit. That's true narcissism sprinkled with a little bit of Jesus dust to make it more palatable.
