I definitely agree Trudeau has fucked up, so have most western nations TBH. The only ones that did well are NZ and most of the East Nations.
However, this isn't just Trudeau's fault this goes back decades to poor policy. We have a 10th of a population and we have done a shitty job at growing our local business economy. Even myself, I exclusively invest in the US equities market because the Canadian government and its people are complacent.
Asides from Jagmeet, I really don't think we would have faired much better under anyone else. Even Jagmeet seems like a Trudeau Light but I'm optimistic about him.
He had the whole r-slur CanSino issue, prioritized EU made vaccines over the US because they were scared of Trump banning exports. EU production has had a bunch of delays plus threatening to do exactly what they thought the US would do.
Even then I still don't really blame him, it was mostly down to luck. I only meant that this looks bad optics wise, if he stays popular it really shows how complacent the leafs are.
The fact that people take the current NDP seriously is hilarious, Jagmeet would be in a similar scenario somehow running a bigger deficit. We could never really have a NZ scenario given all the essential workers + goods that constantly cross the US border and how close all of the urban centers are to the border. Plus the huge amount of dual citizens crossing the border by car, you can't legally deny entry and it would be extremely hard to start a hotel quarantine at a landborder.

I think it is possible with competent leadership, which we don't have. Leafs are definitely complacent. We've had admin after admin that just doesn't really do much. I mentioned how we had a headstart on marijuana, we could have been a juggernaut in that industry, but will be a blip if that. All because gov's failed to support that industry and any business TBH.
