They were talking about how Garth Ennis hates superheros, and realized that Garth Ennis's comics sucked, and so did most non-superhero comics. Scott Pilgrim, Archie, Castle Waiting, Boneyard, The Unwritten, Fables, The Sandman etc. were the exceptions, not the rule. I've been through the quarter bin. I know what trash has been put out. I've got stacks of them.

Garth Ennis made an awful unfunny superhero parody called The Boys. It features manly men killing sexual degenerates, corporate pawns, celebrities, and serial killers who call themselves superheroes. Amazon cancelled the wonderful live-action Tick and replaced it with an adaption of The Boys with less edge and sexual degeneracy.

Marvel was originally named Timely, then renamed Atlas, and finally became Marvel sometime in the fifties. There was another Atlas made by former Atlas , which was then called Marvel, employees who kept the rights to the name and their comics were original and unique. Unfortunately, management squashed that and no one bought any of that. The guy who does Elfquest has the full story.

DC, the other major Superhero company, stands for Detective Comics.

Mot superhero comics also suck, but the aging fanbase will still spend the money they got from their office job buying the latest issue of Green Arrow or Captain America even if they hate it.

Ennis probably shouldn't be allowed to write anything other than Punisher, Nick Fury(The pale one), and possibly Hellraiser.

EDIT: Actually, not totally true. Preacher was great. Orange guy is god.
