The US, Saudis, and UAE (and probs Israel) are all funding Al-Qaeda and Ansar al-Sharia both Salafism groups in Yemen outside of the bombing campaign they’re also performing. The houdiths are freedom fighters against a puppet government that was installed by the above countries in Yemen before the civil war broke out.

I worked with a Libyan guy in my lab for 2 years while he got his masters and I just thought he was a nerdy funny guy who liked anime. The night he had a celebration because he was going back to Libya he got drunk and told me very seriously that he fought in the Libyan civil war against Ghaddafi and that he spent a night in a culvert pipe after his position was overrun with his pistol cocked to shoot himself if he was found.
And the fucker went back. I think he hinted that if the regime supporters found out he could still be killed over there. Those dudes have balls of steel.
The Lebanon port thing was especially stupid considering that the source of the explosion was from an abandon ship’s cargo of fertilizer that was sitting at the port since 2013. Mismanaged doesn’t even begin to describe how incompetently run so many middle eastern nations are run.
How long would they have let it sit there? I think salt water vessels hulls last something like 20-30 years and that's WITH maintenance. Maybe I'd wildly mistaken though.
