It's not even just the body that makes it creepy, it's the way these characters always have a childlike mentality.

It is definitely the body type. Just look how people react when anime characters have more mature body types but act childlike. The same anime fans crusading against lolis eat that type up. Sometimes you even have it where they are underage and act like a child, but because they have a mature body type people are suddenly okay with it. Shield Hero's relationship is a big example where a lot of people who hate lolis were trying to ship the little kid just because her body physically developed.

Did you know most child molesters aren't pedophiles. They go after children who are mentally immature but have developed secondary sex characteristics. Those same people will criticize a pedophile dating an adult with a young looking body.

Or look at gonewild. Children have been caught posting there many times but it is deemed okay and the subreddit isn't shut down because the children doing it have bodies that look like adults. But a subreddit dedicated to young looking adults would be quickly shut down if it passes petite but clearly adult line that people find as the limit of acceptable.

There could be an entire industry of porn of legal adults who have body types that attract pedophiles that would but a serious damper on real child sexual abuse images, but it is often banned because people care more about the body type despite them saying mental maturity is what matters.

I should count myself lucky that twinks mostly get a pass these days.
