Steam Devs Revoke THIRTY THOUSAND Keys. Gamers are FURIOUS

1  2021-04-01 by alien122

A long time ago the devs for a game called Overfall made a deal with a publisher called Flying Interactive to distribute 30K keys. Apparently it was arranged so payment would happen after sales. The payment never occurred so the devs decided to revoke all 30K keys even if they were bought from legitimate reselling sites like Fanatical.

The initial Dev response did little to satisfy the mob.

An update doesn't seem to be much effective as well

The entire forum for the game is actually just a shitshow

Some posts about the situation appear for another game the devs are making. A theory being thrown around is that the devs are driving up this controversy so they can collect emails or bring attention to their new game. "After all there is no such thing as bad publicity!TM"

there's also a post on the steam subreddit about the situation. But why do you care about that? :)

This is really fucking dumb.

Par the course for game devs.

Apparently Steam pays quarterly and/or takes months to actually pay out for game sales. It doesn't sound outlandish really.

Given the number of chargebacks they get, it’s smart.

G*mers are not people, so their pain is fully deserved.

Yeah, they really do this is the game they are complaining about. https://store.steampowered.com/app/402310/Overfall/

Wait, before I click. It's some kind of of mecha game.

Edit: wtf, that looks like some shit I played on Addictinggames. People paid for this?!?

lol 14.99 for what looks like a flash game.

And not only that, people had to go to a thirdparty key retailer to get the key at a discount to play this game for cheaper.

Gamers are stupid.

Play the latest Ori and the Will of the Wisps and change your mind. It's not merely a game. It's art.

gross g*amers out out out 🤮🤮🤮

I don't watch TV, so does that cancel it out?

Lmao imagine being so humorless that not only do you not understand certain types of humor, but you actively seek and destroy humor elsewhere that you don't understand. src
