It basically winds down to different implementations of the granny step (which Ford was mocked for when they introduced them) and different engines. Dodge has the Cummins which all the diesel bros love, but the rest of the truck is pretty much a write off.
I can't speak for Dodge but it seems like everyone who has any money at all goes for Ford F-150s. Our roads are shit where I live so it's either that or maybe a muscle car you can only take out in the summer. I rarely see Dodges though.
