Well, yeah. Its not like they're going to pay out either. I'm sure there is some "no terrorists in the building" caveat in the contract and by Israeli law every Palestinian is a terrorist from birth. They all in on original sin bay-bee!
I don't overly believe the AP was completely unaware, but I never pass up an opportunity to rip on this rag's shotty journalism.
So they, in between their citations to the producer of the Feldman's documentary's tweets, the Free Beacon's tweets, and literally a statement attributed to "another user," they do actually have a few decent sources of information in there. Here they are in their entirety.
a 2014 article in The Atlantic written by a journalist in the region described a history between the news agency and Hamas
[the Atlantic] The AP staff in Gaza City would witness a rocket launch right beside their office, endangering reporters and other civilians nearby — and the AP wouldn’t report it.”
[the Atlantic] claimed the Hamas militants would regularly “burst into the AP’s Gaza bureau and threaten the staff — and the AP wouldn’t report it.”
Doesn't seem like quite the same as having offices with them. Sounds more like a neighborhood pest.
As far as official sources:
“We showed them the smoking gun proving Hamas worked out of that building,” JPO reported, citing a source close to Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi. “I understand they found the explanation satisfactory.”
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Monday he “has seen no evidence” presented by Israel of the group’s presence in the building.
These statements seem in conflict.
So to get this straight, I, personally, think AP likely knew Hamas had access to the building mostly based off an assumption I doubt the building's security is top notch. Yet I, on reading this piece by the Post, now doubt myself more. Absolute trash.
Colford, the AP spokesman, confirmed that armed militants entered the AP’s Gaza office in the early days of the war to complain about a photo showing the location of a rocket launch, though he said that Hamas claimed that the men “did not represent the group.” The AP “does not report many interactions with militias, armies, thugs or governments,” he wrote. “These incidents are part of the challenge of getting out the news—and not themselves news.”
They are right. The AP is in Gaza to report on what Israel does not what Hamas does. Israel just enjoys blowing up news buildings for fun. It’s utterly irresponsible on their part.
Yeah, it could be anything. If you read the transcript he makes it pretty clear that he personally hasn't seen the evidence, not that it hasn't been handed over. It's more clickbait from journaloids because this time it's personal shit that justifies them being blown up in the first place. Even if he did see it and he's just lying it's probably safer to wait for Sleepy Joe's opinion on it rather than accidentally finding out he's gone against the grain.
Personally I don't care much either way about this specific missiling, it'd only be a footnote in the situation if it wasn't for the two news agencies offices.
Because many newspapers are likely “standing in solidarity” with the Associated Press and won’t report on it. It’s kinda like how it took an attractive Asian woman to be gang raped and murdered for the traditional news media to suddenly agree to report on violence against the Asian American community. When the facts are finally compiled and declassified then the foreign press will be forced to cover it in fear of losing that sweet click-per-view ad money.
I'm just reading about this now. Horrible what they did to her. Based on the wikipedia it states they raped and killed her, but they were charged with first-degree intentional homicide only and at that only two of them.
It's really just the local news outlets that cover stuff like that and the national outlets will either have it as a tiny 15 second story that will be mentioned about 6 times a day for 24 hours if not outright passed over to cover on their network. There's a reason a ton of us unironically say don't trust the national news.
TBF though don't. I was a teen during the Iraq invasion, and thanks to social media you see the news does try to spin things. Not saying there completely irrelevant but largely they are a part of a system meant for information control.

Friendly reminder that property destruction is not violence and news corps have insurance.

Israel's airstrikes have so far been mostly peaceful.

I'm curious what kind of agency is willing to ensure buildings in a Palestinian hotzone. Wait a minute... It's Jews, isn't it?

The 2014 article for any others.
Another tidbit from the article

Blinken later clarified that he wasn't present when the evidence was provided. So it might be Ridin and maybe Defense nerds who seen it.

Could be he doesn't have clearance for it? 🤷‍♂️

Why are you not posting some proper newspaper reporting?

WTF? sorry was it this I remember this, https://www.weareresonate.com/2021/01/over-10-teenagers-accused-of-raping-and-beating-asian-woman-to-death-in-wisconsin/
but I don't remember much coverage about it

Yeah that’s her.

Yep. This story enraged enough people where the major news media was forced to cover violence against Asians.
23 __TIE_Guy 2021-05-17
The fucked up thing is even searching now, it's the little independent outlets that are the top results. This is so fucked up.
32 HodorTheDoorHolder__ 2021-05-17
Yep. But in fairness to the media, they only have 24 hours in a day to report the news.

The only source NYP could bring up is the article on Atlantic from 2014.
I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be true, but I'm also not going to get too excited until we get more stuff.
