There are already more guns than people in the USA (400+ million), including 20 million rifles based on the AR-15 design. Strict gun control measures are enforced in many states and cities but they seem to do little to curb the high murder rates. There are cities in the US where more people are shot and killed in one year than the total amount of murders (regardless of firearms being used) for an entire European nation (often multiple ones combined). Doesn't matter if you're pro or anti gun control, with numbers like these you know you can't do shit. Just be happy you're not Brazil with 50.000+ murders per year, three times that of the US.
There's a lot of ways of looking at this. They range between two extremes. Most of those 400 million guns are mostly owned by respectable, responsible people who aren't prone to just shooting off prematurely.
But then, there is a substantial problem on the other end that needs to be considered.
