The chip shortages have nothing to do with tariffs. The chips are made in Taiwan by TSMC and Samsung in South-Korea. They are not affected by it. The reason for the chip shortage is that chip fabs cost up to 20 billion USD and take 2-3 years to construct. The technology involved is insanely advanced, with very fragile supply lines. This means that chip fabs cannot rapidly increase their supply in case demand shoots up, which is exactly what happened during the pandemic. With everyone at home and governments printing money like Weimar candy, people started buying electronics in massive quantities. Chip fabs couldn't increase their production to meet this explosion in demand, resulting in price increases and shortages.
The shortages only affect companies which didn't have large open orders for wafers prior to the pandemic. In other words, car companies (who had reduced their wafer orders initially due to lockdowns, and then couldn't order more once countries opened up because the chip fabs were now fully booked), and certain companies like NVIDIA.

The chip shortages have nothing to do with tariffs. The chips are made in Taiwan by TSMC and Samsung in South-Korea. They are not affected by it. The reason for the chip shortage is that chip fabs cost up to 20 billion USD and take 2-3 years to construct. The technology involved is insanely advanced, with very fragile supply lines. This means that chip fabs cannot rapidly increase their supply in case demand shoots up, which is exactly what happened during the pandemic. With everyone at home and governments printing money like Weimar candy, people started buying electronics in massive quantities. Chip fabs couldn't increase their production to meet this explosion in demand, resulting in price increases and shortages.
The shortages only affect companies which didn't have large open orders for wafers prior to the pandemic. In other words, car companies (who had reduced their wafer orders initially due to lockdowns, and then couldn't order more once countries opened up because the chip fabs were now fully booked), and certain companies like NVIDIA.

Reputable studies have determined that the WuFlu was in all likelihood not genetically engineered, so if it did indeed leak from a lab, it must necessarily be the result of GoF research (which Rand Paul has been toasting Fauci about recently).
The thing is, that it should be relatively simple to determine if the pathogen was the product of such research or not:
If the Shanghai Shivers was a product of such research, then the pathogens you'd get after repeating the GoF experiments should be very similar to the actual virus.
This way, you could give the Lab Leak theory an actual %-chance of probability.

OP title isn't really accurate. There was an investigation however the results are not conclusive so they are putting more effort to determine which of those two scenarios would be likely.
