As long as all that free money continues to be pumped into the system everyone will be happy and nobody is going to work. That's until shortages and prices start to go up, then you'll be complaining about how you've been robbed of your cope because you can't find an RTX 3080 for less than $2000.
Working from home is sweet ngl. And if your job doesn't require customer interaction where you need to be there, it's stupid to require people to be there every day 9-5. Even having 1-2 days a week to work from home I think keeps people from jumping off buildings.
I have been highly amused by the pandemic and all the changes that have come with it, because a lot of the things people are whining about (working from home, online university, more digital interfacing in customer service jobs) are things that businesses and universities have been wanting to do for years. I mean, why wouldn't you want to work from home? And online courses are a more flexible and less expensive option if you're a working or mature student in uni with other responsibilities. I got a retail job to make extra money over the holidays, and it was nice showing customers how to do returns and exchanges online without having to deal with us, which people claim to hate anyway.
I fucking hate working from home, personally. That clean separation of a regular office helps both my work and my life.
I changed jobs this year, and having a functional office was high on the list of what I was looking for. My previous employer going all-remote without a clear deadline for going back was the final nail in the coffin.
The unwashed masses in a sub about the future is currently formenting a revolution by encouraging people with actual employment to simply not go back to the office. Jury still out on if the reason is to take those jobs themselves once the axe inevitably starts chopping or simply to have others end up in the same pathetic jobless existence.

Yep, no reason to work from an office anymore for a lot of jobs.
I'm amazed companies aren't jumping at it.

Autists are afraid of some lunchroom talk about anything else than gamestop and want to sit at home pretending to work. More news at 11.
