For those of you who don't know, Kuroinu is highly successful hentai VN turned into an even more successful hentai anime, arguably one of the last successful ones to truly make ripples in the wider fandom. It's also a magnet for all the autism in the EOP hentai community.
....this is the description summary on VNDB. It's more or less accurate, with Vult taking the dark elf queen and conquering all the countries that employed him, including the reborn high elf goddess Celestine. To summarize more, there are 4 entries in the Kuroinu franchise:
A remake of Kuroinu 1 that functions as the director's cut/definitive edition. Vult conquers the black fortress and then turns on the 7 castles that employ him. Olga the dark elf queen uses a spell to destory her own soul that renders her a slave to her impluses and a flesh toy. Celestine becomes Vult's flesh toy and symbol of his conquest. All the rest of the women function as sex toys until they die.
This is the sequel to Kuroinu, originally published in 2018, with the definitive edition dropping in 2021. It's set 150 years after the original game, the cuntry is now officially named Negremastia, and is ruled by a Tiefling empress called Radomila, although she looks more like a succubus. All the countries of the continent of Serenus ally to try and smash them, but the captain of the guard Dyrek Rondo, said to be the reincarnation of the mercenary king Vult ignites his ambition. Spoiler alert; he uses tactics skills and smashes all the countries attacking them including the sacred Aurum Imperium which is the home of the high elf reborn goddess Serafina Renatus. He captures all the babes then overthrows the tiefling Radomila to rule the greatly expanded sex empire which now controls almost the entire continent.
This is a sidestory game, the last to be released but the first chronologically set 6 months after the original game. It features Vult's men trying to create a great brothel to serve as a symbol of the sex empire. They gather up 5 women, and it also provides a look at the sex empire's early expansion as they aggressively dominate and enslave smaller countries. It also includes something called a Pachi scene of Vult banging Celestine every which way as an extra for the special edition.
Another sidestory(gaiden) game, it was actually the second released chronologically, in 2016 under the brand Herencia instead of Liquid, the main Kuroinu developer as you'd expect. In 2022, it got an updated HD release alongside the other gaiden game, which means the original artist just redrew the CGs at a better resolution, instead of 600x800,more in line with modern expectations. Despite the name "elf village" It's actually misleading as it only features 2 elves living in a village of humans. A brigand captain named Morgan and his men come to the village and take it over. It's unclear where in the timeline this falls, as it could be during the events of Kuroinu 1 or shortly after it. It features cuckolding and philosophy.
So, with that out of the way, Kuroinu 1 had a 4 episode anime that made big splashes in the hentai community and some smaller ones in the general anime community outside it. Being one of the most notable hentai since bible black,it attracted a lot of attention. And with attention came autism. Go to hanimedottv right now and search for them, and I guarantee in the comments you'll find one dude saying he'd kill Vult and basically just a bunch of dudes white knighting. Even now on /h on 4chan, you can find a semi-recurrent general taking place, and eventually the autism rears its head, with people constantly asking questions about the economy and pointing out how its impossible. It all has a very
-George R.R. Martin
feel to it. You may even find people pointing out how the sex empire should have lost or that the alliance never should have lost. What causes this behavior? My theory is it's a mix of multiple kinds of autism. You've got the medieval HEMA nerds who are convinced they know everything about warfare from that period and could beat a knight in a 1-v-1. You've got the aforementioned sophistry nerds who think they know everything and can't shut the fuck up about medieval economics and such. And finally you've got the white knight nerd-simps with autism, who hate the idea of a cute and perfectly waifu-able girl being used as a sex object, and want them to have a better fate,or at least a happy end with a self-insert they can relate to. My theory is this last type bleeds into all the other types to greater or lesser degrees.
If yo have any questions, let me know.

Still on a run this week:
First, I watched 'Kami wa Game ni Uete Iru'-at least the first episode, it seemed boring so I doubt Ill keep watching.
Then I watched 'The Dungeon Of Black Company', which was okay. Nothing special, but watchable if you dont have anything else. Could have done way more with it tho.
Then I watched 'Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote'. It was fine, tho I was promised yuri and there really wasnt any.
Then I watched the first episode 'One Room, Hiatari Futsuu, Tenshi-tsuki', seems like absolute generic romance slop, probably wont keep watching.
Then I started watching 'Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro', an isekai where the twist is that the male lead gets reincarnated as a pig. Wasnt expecting much, but so far Im six episodes in and its fine. Will probably finish it at some point.
Then I watched 'Sasayaku You ni Koi o Uta', which was good-except that its missing its last two episodes, which is annoying. Hope they will release them soon.
Then I watched 'Tenpuru'. Sonewhat better than average ecchi/harem show, definitly watchable.
Then I started 'Kanojo mo Kanojo', the male lead is annoying as frick, and so is the fact that two girls just accept being both his girlfriends. The anime would be miles better if they didnt and he actually had to choose. Havent finished it yet, not sure if I will. I like the redhead girl, but she cant really shine in this setting ngl.
Then I watched 'Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo.', which honestly surprised me, imo really good romance/drama show, I enjoyed it.
Then I watched 'Romantic Killer', was alright, but a bit to ADHD-ish for my taste.
Then I watched 'Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Lovecome', from the name youd expect a someone unique romcom with a focus on the childhood friend, but... All girls are childhood friends so it loops around to being a completely generic harem/romcom show, with a lot of stupid shit happening. Overall mid.
Oh, and I also rewatched Zetsuen no Tempest, and its still a great show, if you havent watched it do so NOW!

!anime !weebs, your boy is back in. I'm the new mod of:

Which is for this hilarious manga:

It's a hilarious manga about what if women's and men's sexual mores were reversed. The protagonist girl gets a fever and finds her mind has traded bodies with the "her" that exists in this alternate world. And later on a boy from her class undergoes the same thing. It's really funny and
Also, I learned my lesson about modding thot subreddits, being on patrol for copyright infringement from a bunch of screaming OF harpies just isn't worth it.

Somewhat !anime. I've come to the untimely realization that I've adored this band's work for years, and they were just in my area for two local stints, but I automatically hand-waved at the assumedly-radical prices. Have any of you seen them live? I'm juggling affording the necessities, I can't run around at a festival or the like when things just... need to be priorities.
Btw, the year of the dragon is HOT in California, I'm sure everything will shift with this year's trends. Hitting 110° is no longer abnormal, and plastics in my car are breaking down noticeably. I need to do a purge of the backseat basket since I usually keep drinks there for homeless, but they're worthless now.
Hope you all take good care!

Alright, I watched a lot of anime this week. Really a ton.
First, I finished konosuba. Overall still a decent show, though season 3 felt waaay more generic isekai than the parody/comedy the previous seasons were. Sometimes you see it shine through, but generally it took itself a bit too seriously imo. Still very watchable though.
Then I watched 'I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability', which lived up to its generic isekai name and is a completely mid generic isekai, the only twist being that the protagonist is a little boy (like 10 years old or something) and the adult women fawn over him as opposed to the usual 40 year old protagonist fawns over 10 year old girls. It didnt save the anime from being utterly mid, if anything it made it worse. Watch only if you wanna watch some mind numbing power fantasy isekai shit with a shota fetish.
Then I watched 'Sentouin, Hakenshimasu!', which was fine. As I watched it I got konosuba vibes from time to time, and as I found out after watching its made by the same guy who also made konosuba or something. I would definitly watch a second season if it ever releases.
After that I started watching 'Unnamed Memory', have only watched three episodes so far but it seems fine. Will keep watching.
Now the big one of the week: last season, Date A Live Season V released, and I am a big date a live fan. I watched the first and second season probably eight times or more since they released, third season also at least three times. When season 4 came out I was pretty hyped, but I remember not liking it very much.
Now, in preparation of watching season 5, I rewatched everything, including OVAs and the movie (except Date A Bullet). Season 1 and 2 are still great, and while season 3 starts off a bit weak imo, the origami arc in the second half is probably my favorite part of the whole show. But, even though I watched it less than two years ago, I legit couldnt remember anything about season 4, and when rewatching it I was confirmed again in it being very meh.
First issue that one will notice immediately when watching is the different drawing/animation style. Of course you get used to it, but its still weird in the beginning. But more importantly, the show pretty much completely loses the humor it had in especially season 1 and 2, but also in 3. Season 4 seems way more like a generic harem anime than previous seasons, and the plot of the season (and the girls (especially nia)) are pretty boring.
Also, the fourth season changed kurumi a lot, and not really for the good. In the first season, she is introduced as this very psycho girl who will kill people no biggie and not give a shit, but in season 4 they try to humanize her too much imo. Idk if this is an issue with the source material (I suspect that the author just wanted to add a psycho b-word character in the first novels, and only really thought about her backstory later), but it seems a bit jarring to me.
And another issue is that, at this point, there are a lot of girls (10 lmao), so character development kinda gets thrown out the window. I guess this might also be because there is more focus on advancing the plot than in season 1 and 2, but it definitly feels more like '3 episodes to collect next girl, then youll never see her again', which was not the case in the previous seasons, though there is also the movie after season 2 where you get at least some extra time with the characters, so thats a bonus for season 1&2 girls of course.
Anyway, from this lengthy rambling you might get that I definitly thought that season 4 was a significant drop in quality, so I was pretty concerned about season 5 following that trend. But... I was positively surprised. I really liked season 5. It took its time to flesh out its plot, and it did so very well as far as Im concerned. I really liked the arc, and I think its a fitting end for the series. The story comes together decently well imo, there werent really any major plot holes bothering me in the end (except some stuff that always comes when time travel shenangians are involved, but no big deal), it had some drama, just overall a good season. Im pretty happy with it.
It is a weird feeling when a show that kinda 'accompanied' (in lack of a better word) you for 10 years ends, though.
I saw some rumors that another movie might come out, I would watch it of course, but I wouldnt mind if the ends this way either. Its a good ending.
Oh, also something to note about the show is that it has some great music.
Anyway, thats it for this week. Ill probably pick up Unnamed Memory again now that I finished Date A Live, not sure what Ill watch after that. I wad eyeing some stuff from last season that I might watch, but it didnt really have anything that seemed like a must watch to me.
