I don't use colours, so I had to look for inspiration to one of the masters to convey the idea of colour without using it.
I think this is borderline an artistic masterpiece if I can so myself, I'm especially proud of this fish:

If you don't use colours you could've shaded the fishes in different ways like they do in those chinese mangos to convey the illusion of different colours.
Anyways I don't really have an opinion on this, I don't think I could've done better. My best fish drawing was
and I traced it off of a fish food packaging I found in the market

But you see, different shades may be just different shades of the same colour, by labelling the fish I ensured the viewer experiencing the piece does not fall into confusion and knows that the fish are indeed in different colours.
