This makes sense. Just look at any thread with Christians and they are always running their mouth about how much they hate black people.
For instance, @Klenny, the leader of the christians ping group, owner of /h/truth, and apologist on the beaches of /h/atheism. Because he did those things, I think of him as a prototypical, average Christian. Here's a quote from the man himself:
Friendly reminder that the increase in traffic fatalities is mostly BIPOCs lmao.
We're all going to get speed limited because it's illegal to give BIPOCs a speeding ticket anymore.
The truth is, fellow atheists, that christians are really just bad people. It's pretty funny because they call us the sinners like okay pal, at least I don't want to literally murder minorities. I'm happy and proud to be an atheist, where at least I can know I'm actually a good person.

i am, of course, speaking from the point of view of an athiest with no rational ground from which to form a moral compass

I like how religinoids just straight up admit they're only good people (assuming they bother with that) because they expect the good guys will always be rewarded with a happy ending like in a Disney princess movie. As opposed to just doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do.

how do you determine what is the right thing to do? if the end of life is an eternal state of unconsciousness and all is forgotten, then what does it matter?
if you're a devout atheist, and you have a big red button that blows up the whole planet, do you have any rational reason not to push it?

Most people don't need some third party to tell you not to kill or enslave people, and if you do you're probably going to make up some justification for doing it anyways. All the slave owners were one of the Big Three Abrahamic religions

most people don't live in a vacuum. their sense of morality is inherited through the society they grew up in. most societies are rooted in some kind of religion with a third party telling them not to do things... in some hypothetical atheistic society, what justification is there to not kill, steal, r*pe, enslave, etc?

Because humans are social animals that are wired to get along with others?
You don't have to make up a hypothetical. In the most peaceful and civilized countries the average person sees religion as an interesting cultural thing at best, and the violent crime rate literally tracks with how religious a state or country is.

so your whole morality is that humans are social and you don't feel like it

It's the other way around. You believe in a higher power because you know it's irrational to feel remorse for killing people to increase the threadcount in your bedsheets.
If you feel your morals but don't believe, it's because you're not smart enough for rational self-interest. At least you're not too stupid to have empathy! Better to be a midwit than a BIPOC.
