I'll build in the spaces where it's useful, I'll shit on people promoting ideas that lead to fascism when I want, it doesn't take much effort or energy personally, and hopefully marginally sways some people.

When people are at the point of flying flags declaring their position, though — chances are you're not swaying them.
Respect their choice and come back later - if invited.

Your duty is to "set the table" and invite them. If they don't want to come to the table - find community with those who will.
