The cables were severed last month, and there's zero evidence it was done intentionally — trawlers accidentally sever cables all the time.

Also they're cables to outlying islands, not to the main island.

This is an unfortunately worded headline, not a red flag.

Nope. Cosby was awarded the medal & this issue was brought up with respect to him.

It's awarded entirely at the discretion of the awarding President, with no revocation process.

There is a degree called "With Distinction" which is "more venerated", but the criteria for that is also up to the awarding President.

But — if you are ever up for the medal, you can rest easy — it was also awarded to Fred Rogers, which nothing can touch.
