there's currently massive unrest in the venomous snake hobbyist community bc some dumbfrick who owned an inland taipan in the US, encouraged free handling and didn't have anti-venom (insane) got bit and now he's in the hospital on a ventilator and also he posted this one (1) week ago
cait (@cait.bsky.social):
he and his friends were frantically making posts begging various places for anti-venom and one of the zoos that had it straight up told them no lmao. "frick that guy"
CatFrat (@catfrat.bsky.social):
How big of a peepee can you be that you're begging for anti-venom and the one place that has it is like nooooo, not for you
サージャントヒッピー (@sgthippie.bsky.social):
They probably need it in case their own zookeepers get bit.
CatFrat (@catfrat.bsky.social):
That and also if the dude publicly bragged that anti-venom was for the weak that's not very motivating for them to give it to him. He has no respect for the animals
Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):
He has videos handling i.e. his black mamba titled (in all-caps, no less than 3 exclamation marks)
"I WOULD DIE FOR THIS!!!"
… and so he might
CatFrat (@catfrat.bsky.social):
Omg what an butthole

Dr. Maldade Sexual (@kyuric.bsky.social):
The lack of public health in the USA is apalling, but it is eventually funny to see a dumbfrick die because of that.
Proud Anselmo (@proudanselmo.bsky.social):
Public health would not necessarily mean that a hospital can get an antivenom for a rare snake.
Dr. Maldade Sexual (@kyuric.bsky.social):
Not necessarily, I know. But it would make it more probable, specially if the zoonotic disease centers are part of the public health system, like it is here in Brazil. E.g. Butantã Institute, in São Paulo.
cait (@cait.bsky.social):
this is a non native snake, if he had gotten bit in Australia where they are native he would have been fine
Dr. Maldade Sexual (@kyuric.bsky.social):
Oh, I see. I appreciate the clarification. Thank you.
I understand nowThe hole is deeper. He is allowed by the State to raise a non-native venomous snake and no one, not even him, is required to have the antidote.
Jesus.
Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):
It's Florida, so, they're busy outlawing human beings and books as potential threats to health, safety, and life
Proud Anselmo (@proudanselmo.bsky.social):

Oooh people are afraid of PETA involvement.
Faine Greenwood (@faineg.bsky.social):
I mean, they should be in that PETA is notorious for stealing than euthanizing animals that absolutely did not need to be euthanized.
Rev. Jesus "🥥" Christ, KSC (@reverendjesus.com):
Oh man I hope the kitty's OK 😟
Lee (@lharp.bsky.social):
Sounds like the Serval is either MIA or was confiscated before all this.
Rev. Jesus "🥥" Christ, KSC (@reverendjesus.com):
🥺
Lee (@lharp.bsky.social):
But in the article it said a domestic cat was taken. I'm going to hope for the best.
Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):
Yeah, he had a domestic cat kitten. It'll be fine.

This guy sucks but I sure hope those animals are collected by people who aren't PETA
Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):
The serval needs a rehab center & the snakes need to go to antivenin producers.
