The gamification is a symptom of a kind of learned sociopathy that is necessary to normalise fascism — dehumanising the constituency and populace in order to terminate thought (and thus conscience) about others as humans.

It's why fascists make platforms to share dehumanising content (i.e. X . Com)

A lot of people are shocked by the "points on the board" phrase - as was I - but it was also shocking how common I heard this and other game-type metaphors.

Many who are deeply disconnected from the harm do view and talk about it privately as a kind of sport. It is gross 🤢

related language thing i think about a lot: speakers trying to be inclusive often use the words people or person, compared to the alternative. think saying "homeless people" vs "the homeless," or even more "people of color" vs "blacks." remembering that everyone is people matters!
