The members of the Republican Party who are doing this, aren't doing it to inflate their chances to run for a position in the US Federal government later, they're not doing it to cater to their "constituencies", they're not doing it over Obamacare.

They are doing it explicitly to destroy the US Federal government. They want the Constitutional protections of fed.gov to disappear, forever. They want the Fourteenth amendment to disappear, forever. They want the EPA to disappear, forever.

They want the lawful ability to tell people without a specific lack of skin colour to be out of town before dark.

I'm glad you mentioned "judgement",

because if someone lacks the good judgement to not DebateTheAltRight, to not hang out with literal violent terrorists discussing their hatred of demographics and individuals, to avoid people who are discussing the assassination of elected politicians and/or people who claim that The Holocaust Never Happened (But Here's Why It Didn't Go Far Enough) --

then that person doesn't have the good judgement to follow the one simple common rule across all my subreddits:

Treat others like actual human beings: With respect. Remember The Human.

They're significantly more likely to vomit up some rote rhetoric that demeans, belittles, denigrates, dehumanises or harms someone else -- and then demand people's time, trouble, and labour for free in an effort to persuade them why they shouldn't have said the hurtful bigotry.

They are the kind of person who is almost certainly going to be one of the Nine Types of Reply Guys:

The "Life Coach":

aka the Victim Blamer -- "Why didn't you speak out?" / "Dress professionally and you won't get harassed" / "Don't be visibly different and you'll avoid trouble".

People who say that kind of thing have never had to deal with having the firehose of noise and hatred and r*pe threats and death threats and garbage rhetoric, turned on them and their communities, drowning out the purpose of the subreddit and driving off all the good faith users.

They've never been targetted by the alt-Right, or QAnon, or a vicious Fred-Phelpsian Internet Street Corner preacher.

People who adopt this fashionable stance, should do what I tell so many others:

As many of you know (but I didn't know until after I joined the site), I have been living rent-free inside the head of our favorite Reddit powermod, Bardfinn, for many years now. Ever since my arrest in 2015, Bardfinn has constantly gone on unhinged rants about me - in fact, he still does to this very day (here is just one such example). However, I don't believe that I have ever actually spoken to Bardfinn a single time.
