Sounds like you should repair it using coat hangers and a different battery hooked up to jumper cables to sketchily weld it together. I would expect nothing less from a Neon.
The Neon is still the best the Americans have ever done at creating a counterpart to the Civic. Those early 90s Neons were surprisingly good drivers cars
